Re: First models with MagnaMax? and other MM questions...
History and tradition in tandem with innovation is one of the strongholds of Spyderco so Native 5 is in front of the row I guess , and rightly so. One of the backbone models of the brand !

Re: Stop “LOCK ROCK” tricks
For Awt scales, i've put a thin paper in the pocket, goes around the floating pin.
Fine… same principle I assume. A dab of the Bison POLY MAX might last better I believe as paper will be more sensitive to wear from friction and moisture and will probably need to be applied more often over ...

Re: Stop “LOCK ROCK” tricks
didn't work for me. the rock seems to be a result of the tolerances between the lock bar and blade on many of my pacific salts.
I appreciate you taking the time to write out your suggestion either way.
Thanks. I also thought in first instance it was the tolerance between the lock bar and the ...

Stop “LOCK ROCK” tricks
I have posted in an other thread a few suggestions to eliminate rock lock according to my own experiences with a few Native 5 knives bought is 2025.
In my case the OEM scales had no lock rock and the after market scales were the cause, but I read online that many Native 5 owners ( and from other ...

Re: Fixing Lock Rock in Seki FRN lockbacks
Its all a matter of production tolerances. If the pin that goes through the lockbar does not get “press-fit” into the scales the slightest space in that connection creates the lock rock. With G10 and FRN handles of several Native 5’s I tested no lock rock was there as these scale materials allow ...

Re: Zero play lockbacks - fact or fiction?
Maybe a spoiler allert Matt , but I hope you don’t mind that I mention here that titanium Native 5 “ROCKSCALE Design” scales will be available soon. I have high hopes that these eliminate my rock lock that was from the start of installing micarta scales on the Native 5 G10. (That was without RL with ...

Re: Fixing Lock Rock in Seki FRN lockbacks
Indeed. As I stated in both my G10 en FRN Native 5 with OEM scales I had NO rocklock. It was only when I installed after-market scales that this occurred.

Re: Zero play lockbacks - fact or fiction?
One more time in other words maybe :
“The lockbar pivots perfectly around the center of the pin, so that’s not the issue. The problem is the fit of the pin in the handle scale recesses on either side of the lockbar. On some scales these recesses aren’t tight enough, which allows slight movement of ...

Re: Zero play lockbacks - fact or fiction?
It is an old item I know but I recently acquired a Native 5 in G10 and FRN and those had no lock rock at all . I replaced the scales with Micarta scales and …voila, ….LockRock was there. So i started to investigate what difference in the after market scales made the difference. I found out that is ...

Re: Do you clean your micarta scales?
My 2 cents when my micarta scales don’t look pleasing to the eye anymore.
Just some dishwashers soap en lukewarm water . Short rub with haands or brush. Dry the scales with paper towel en after drying a little ballistol or allike oil. I am a bit reluctant with alcohol as this has high drying ...

By the way my experience is that positive and unique with the 15V steel that I ordered a second one!

Factory edge high carbide steels
I want to add my experience with factory edge on a Native 5 15V recently. ( sorry for my English writing as I am not native English)
The secondary bevel chipped rather fast on some feather sticking (with straight passes, no whittling). A clear chip from relaitively low impact. Under magnification I ...

Re: Reveal 16 15V alert thread time?
the spydiewiki says these 15v sprint runs are around 1200. does anyone know how many are actually being released?
There is a video of Eric mentioning there would be 5,000 of each model produced (after the PM2, G10 Manix and Shaman).
I definitely appreciate the availability of these recent ...

First experiences with S110V Native 5 G10
One month ago I bought my first knife in S110V steel. A Spyderco Native 5 . I want to share some experience from my sharpening, maintenance. The factory edge was sharp but did not hold very long before it got dull from every day cary. Cutting carton, wood, rope , some plastics , food …etc… I was ...
