Thank you for pointing me out to attila's thread. Btw, does it mean I have to disassemble my knife just to dye the scales? What if I just dye without disassembling?
Since yours is a Salt, no need to disassemble.

Re: Best way of restoring dyed FRCP scales

Thank you Paul and David for the suggestions.
Does it mean if I strip it off using the dye remover from RIT will it restore it to the original scale color?
What if I dye it again to yellow without removing the existing coat?

Going from purple to yellow probably won’t work. Try the rot remover ...

Re: Post up your Rit dye projects..

Wow, that came out great! Did you use black? I would've thought it would be more of a brown. Would you say it looks Forest Green in person?

Thanks!

I used about half a package of black powder dye. Didn't measure it, just guessed. 2 cups of water and 1 cup of vinegar.

Maybe a little darker ...

Re: Post up your Rit dye projects..

Just finished my first rit dye and I'm super happy!

Brand new yellow native 5 salt. Was going for black. I checked it after about 1 minute and it looked like this. Thought it looked very cool!

Re: Sharpmaker rod angle

My left side is a lot looser than the right. I figured it was way off, so I put a piece of paper hanging over the edge of my kitchen counter, then laid the sharper maker on top(also hanging over the edge). Traced the inside of the stones onto the paper. Removed the sharp maker. Continued the angle ...

When sharpening serrations on the sharpmaker...

I pull the knife towards me, as it goes down along the stone. Should I also, occasionally, push the knife down(from heel to tip)?

It seems like a small portion of the serrations are being skipped over as I pull from heel to tip.
