Re: Janisong clip and why we need more like it.

Like all things that are nicer they also cost more to produce all else held equal. Otherwise you are looking at a weaker design if you want it to cost the same, not to mention it presents more of a challenge to find a design that works with every knife. Just look at how wide the space is between the...

Re: Civilian vs Matriarch 2 Wave

These are available for purchase on ebay: https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/J-wAAOSw3UJbLoB5/s-l1600.jpg Once you have a set of these, the wave feature no longer needs to be a deciding factor on a knife meant for protection. There are also even nicer looking versions from other companies, made with alu...

Re: Hap-40 performance thread

I hope it's ok to resurrect this thread. Since HAP40 has been around for a while now I'm hoping to find some info/advise and didn't think it would be appropriate for a new thread. I have a HAP40 Endura that is almost ready for it's first sharpening. I generally only go as low as 30° inclusive on my...

Re: Spydercos best "bang-for-the-buck" - knife?!

Bang for buck is a ratio, similar to miles per hour (mph). The time and distance a car can travel for would be indefinite if the car doesn't break down. The relationship between the two is what sets each one apart. Knife A: 300 bangs for 250 bucks Knife B: 100 Bangs for 20 bucks Knife A has a bang t...

Re: Spydercos best "bang-for-the-buck" - knife?!

The Chinese Yuan is 6 to 1. That means that a US dollar is worth 6 when it crosses the Chinese border. While there is a big discussion in the US as to whether China is unfairly valuing it's currency, based on the 6-1 valuation difference, the best bang for the buck would have to be a Chinese made m...

Re: M390 Delica Blue FRN Bento Box Shop Exclusive

That being said, the geometry does seem to be quite legit on this M390 Delica, without implying anything beyond that. I'll also say that the knives I've reprofiled to <30° cut better than any factory edge regardless of BTE or spine measurements. One of my knives is a Sage 2 reprofiled to right about...

Re: Spyderco Small Knife For Self Defense?

Two more questions while we are on this topic: 1 As you pointed out above, C99c, any sort of defense and fighting is a high stress or super stress activity. Why is this? Can you and others please explain to me why self defense and fighting (and you are right, it does appear to be that way) have to ...

Re: M390 Delica Blue FRN Bento Box Shop Exclusive

I think very well treated XHP definitely can compete with and outperform average or so-so M390, theres a lot of amateur testing results that can support that. Although very good M390 I think will still perform a little bit better than XHP. M390 is much more stain resistant and a little tougher I bel...

The bevel looks especially tall for a Delica in every one of the pictures I see... On a blade that thin the angle must surely be 30° inclusive or less, could anyone confirm?

Re: Native Chief Use

Depends on what you mean by use :D I'm going to use this knife when I get it. Am I going to drive out to the woods and baton logs in half with it? No, probably not. If you want to see some pictures of me opening boxes, packages, mail, etc. I'll post them. Most the time I'm using my knife to lop off...

after you get it back, do youreslef a favor, get a can of this: https://www.amazon.com/AGS-LE5-Lock-Ease/dp/B000CIJUGA/ref=sr_1_11? and apply liberally all over the insides. the aerosol should get a nice layer of graphite over all metal to metal surfaces. you can repeat the process after drying it o...

on top of the nice corrosion resistant and ease of use features it's also just got the quickest and most snappy action of any button lock of that size. hte action compared to other production autos is just totally in a class of its own no doubt about it. the best part of the knife doesnt have to do ...

Re: Closing one handed: Faster with a backlock than with a compression lock.

OP here: I guess I'm out, this is getting crazy., sorry .. ;) No offense, but especially the "fidget thing" tipped me over the edge: Vivi has shown that a backlock is as fast in that regard as a comp lock, when the blade is fully deployed and locked resp. fuly closed in each "run"...

Re: Closing one handed: Faster with a backlock than with a compression lock.

I tell you what. I'm going to match your video with a backlock, using your style. https://streamable.com/rb27v Your last video was just like this. You aren't wrapping your fingers around the handle to achieve a working grip like in my last video. I did a video on your terms. Can you do one on mine,...

Re: Closing one handed: Faster with a backlock than with a compression lock.

It might look like I'm fidgeting, but the knife is 100% locked and 100% closed at the end of each swing. I called it fidgeting not to be condescending, but because what you're doing in the video has zero practical value IMO. I can swing comp locks open and shut like that too. Same with backlocks an...
