Re: Is this the knife everyone clamors for?
Hmm. Compared to a g10 cbbl manix: Does it cut better? No, it's thicker with the same blade shape. Oh. It must be going for the big strong overbuilt knife thing then? No, they got rid of the steel liners entirely. Oh. it must be less expensive then? You might think so, but no, it cost noticably more...

Re: New Manix 2 with Uneven Bevel
You can only get away with poorly finished bevels, blade play, lock rock and generally poorly administered quality control for so long. The enthusiasts may just about be able to tolerate the price hikes, but if the quality of the finished product declines at the same time, people will walk away. Wh...

Re: Knife that screams liner lock got the compression lock - why?
Lock strength has little to do with it. It's because many (most?) people play with their knives more than they cut things with their knives. Most people find the comp lock is more fun to play with, so it sells better. It's not that complicated. Judging by the cost difference between the military (MA...

Re: Shaman w/ XHP & Black Micarta
I think it's a Blade HQ exclusive since nobody else is advertising it. BladeHQ called it a "limited run" in this video; skip ahead to 7:20 for the shaman: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jZFh4hBd360 He called it a limited run, then went on to talk about the bhq exclusive m4 jade yojumbo s...

Re: Roadie: Tell Me About This Knife
I'm not super familiar with the roadie, but here are a couple of alternatives. The urban I think is similar in price, another small slip joint and a better slicer. Not as weird though. The astute is a good bit larger but similar in price, a lot of knife for the money. It's more "normal" wh...

Re: Chaparral
Love the fluted native and it would be cool to see the chaparral similarly equipped.
I'm surprised the chaparral isn't a big seller. It's an amazing design and one of their more attractive knives in my eyes. There's no accounting for taste, I guess

Re: Chaparral
I hope they continue to use the chaparral to try different scales. I'd like to see some of that crazy blue rafir scale material someone posted a while ago. Now that the cf laminate version is discontinued, maybe they could do a marbled CF version.

Re: G-10 Hawkbill Anyone?
I like the idea, but I think all of the hawkbill models are Japanese and I don't want to pay the Japanese g10 tax. Maybe if they can make it in golden or Taichung?

Re: Weird streaks/scratch in DLC?
You may want to have a word with whomever did the sharpening. DLC is pretty tough, it's unlikely they didn't notice they did that.

Re: The Astute
The spacing of the outer two holes is close enough to Benchmade's that I'm using a two-screw Benchmade-pattern deep carry clip from MXG Gear on mine. (The middle screw position is not the same as Benchmade, so don't expect non-deep carry to work.) Thanks for the tip. This one? https://mxggear.com/c...

Re: Recommendations for a European traditionalist
In my limited experience Austrians like the endura and chaparral. I seriously wonder what the background of this statement is and what distinguishes Austrian preferences for pocket knives from other nations? Maybe I'm a little too superficial, because after almost 20 years here in the forums and es...

Glad it's back up and for the improvements. The "50 shades of grey" color palette makes it harder for me to read though.

Re: The Astute
The Astute is a fantastic design and a solid user even with its slim profile. I would like to see it with upgraded materials, maybe S35VN or M4 like the Tenacious. Also agree on more collaborations with Mr. Szakony; his design style works well with Spyderco's. Nice Hungarian. I like the matte look....

Re: The Astute
I really like the design. Pretty sure the designer is Gábor Szakony who did the Hungarian.
I would love to see more collaborations with him in the future, maybe with slightly better materials (not there's anything wrong with an inexpensive knife).
