It’s 2020 why are we still using fake carbon fiber?

Otherwise looks like a sweet knife.
It's real. Just a very thin layer of CF laid on top of g10
Much in the same way gold plated jewelry is real.

Re: KC Exclusive Shaman Rosewood REX 45

Man I wish they would do some other Golden models. I'd love a Native or a Para 3 in Rosewood. This. Instead they ran the cruwear native with smooth g10... What exactly was the point of that? Looks like any other native but it's less grippy, Awesome! At least with the rosewood you're trading some gr...

The ARK was designed for stabbin' fools in the shower.

That's pretty "niche", right?
I knew That about the ARK, but your phrasing made me hear that line in Mr T's voice in my head. I legitimately laughed out loud. Well done.

Definitely missing in the list... as is the Native Chief
Yeah, the shaman has been getting lots of Sprint runs lately with more in line (deservedly so), but the chief has none as yet. Would be pretty cool if the first was a forum knife.

Maxamet/g10 UKPK. Carbon fiber or micarta would work too.

I’m glad combo edges are out there for those who want or need them, but they're not for me. It just always feels like I have a sub optimal tool for the job.

Re: K390 fans rejoice!

I just cant believe the Police K390 hasnt had more success than its had. I'm fairly sure I read/heard somewhere that the g10/k390 police 4 was only made to see if demand was high enough to make a lightweight frn version. Making frn molds is evidently much more expensive for a small run than g10 so ...

The clip movement is an improvement, but the MXG short clip is better. The standard clip is still too long.
Which clip hole pattern does the browser have? Didn't see it in the clip thread.

Re: A question for Mr Glesser and Spyderco (Clipped Manbug)

Nice! I don't like a knife on my keys or fishing around the bottom of a big pocket, but a lady bug or man bug is so small I worry about it popping out of my fifth pocket without a clip. This would be great clipped in there as a secondary blade for easy access and use around people who belong in the ...

Re: Philosophy of locks

The goal of any good lock should be a higher and not lower standard. The goal should be to have a folding knife with a lock that would make it as strong as a fixed blade. I would argue that trying to make a folding knife as strong as a fixed blade makes as much sense as trying to make a Miata that ...

Re: Spyderco 2020 Lists: Delivered & Upcoming

Why is resue 3 ffg vg10 black frn on here? Could be that the previous version of the rescue 3 came with a hollow grind. This one seems to be a Full flat grind. Many thanks, Ramzar :D No. I thought that was it though. I got a rescue 3 plus another knife off of one of the blade hq bundles about 6 wee...

Re: David Boyle dents on lockbacks

Took a close look at my native 5 and I think the reason it doesn't have a dent is that you have to depress the lock bar almost to the bottom of the scale cutout before the lock disengages. If there was a dent, it couldn't be very deep or you wouldn't be able to disengage the lock because you'd botto...

Re: Anything that can replace Chaparral?

Just got one of these, and it's a nice knife, but I agree about the lock. It's just a pain to disengage. I just did the mod, and it helps a little. I guess that's the price to pay for such a small, thin knife. I also thought it'd feel lighter than it does. I don't have a scale, but just holding it ...

Re: Philosophy of locks

Nail nicks are the worst. I would probably own more traditionals otherwise. If I can't pinch it open it's a nope. Severely limits choice on slippies.

I'm surprised I don't see more traditionals with back locks. Many people obviously prefer a locking knife and the mechanism is similar.

Re: Philosophy of locks

I think a lot of people are conflating lock strength with reliability. To me they are different concepts. Strength = how much force can be applied to the lock before it bends or breaks to the point of failure. Reliability = does the knife lock every time and not get disengaged accidentally. Reliabil...

Re: Philosophy of locks

I can't think of too many things I care less about in a pocket knife. If I'm concerned about the lock failing, I'm using the wrong tool for the job. Fixed blades exist for a reason.

Centofante 3 has a nice hollow grind. It isn't super high, but with 2mm stock it doesn't need to be.
