Just looked at my manix 2 LW. Mine is dlc, but the text centering (or lack thereof) is similar to yours. It's noticeably closer to the finger choil than the spine on both sides.
I bought mine from the SFO, so I'm relatively certain it's legit.

Re: Maryland knife laws?
I haven't been to Maryland in a while, but there are (or were) some localities with strict knife laws. I seem to remember Ocean city being particularly weird. It was illegal to own, sell or even DISPOSE OF an assisted opening knife. Leaving you no way to obey the law if you owned one when it went ...

Re: Bodacious Discussion
I may be misremembering, but I thought it took a while before the shaman became popular. If I recall, it was a surprise when the early sprints sold out really quickly because the regular model wasn't selling very briskly. I think the shaman's high price kept some folks away but eventually the design ...

Re: Bodacious Discussion
I’m assuming the MSRP will be equal to the Shaman, if not higher? I think MSRP is about $350 for the satin version. I love the looks of the knife, but that is crazy high. I stopped chasing the new steels, so S30V is fine, but not at that price. Wow. The satin model is $350 MSRP but the MAP is $245. ...

Re: Native Chief LW
I am still on the fence about the idea of dying handles, some people seem to have no problems, but others have had it start to rub off over time which is what I'm afraid of. I really don't want it to rub off and stain anything or look worn out as a result of it coming off. I would prefer not to Rit ...

In yellow the long thin lines of the chief really make it look like a banana. John Cleese would be proud.

Hmmm. I want to like it, but without the contoured scales, I keep thinking it's the Caribbean's better looking but less talented younger brother.

Good God they're trying to bankrupt me. Cru carta manix 2 and XL, salt manix 2, lil native lightweight (yay thinner blade stock), native chief salts, a freaking catcherman sprint!! and a serrated chaparral. Jeez.
Oh well, I eat too much anyway.

I like that color combo. Reminds me of a maple telecaster.

Re: Knife trends you just don't understand?
I don't understand why so many people love the so called multi-tools like victorinox. Who needs such nonsense like can-opener, mini wood-saw, trashy mini-scissors, and so on..? All you need today is a good little knife like a manbug or even a small opinel. We don't live in 1920 anymore. Different ...

Re: Steel similar to Super Blue but tougher?
My theory is that the lower carbide stainless steels are often used in lower quality knives, and thus people associate them with poor design, geometry, or heat treating, none of which is the fault of the actual steel composition. pretty much this. Kershaw for example has horrible steel in even the ...

Re: Native 5 or Delica 4
Both have their advantages. I prefer the more secure feeling lock, ergos and lack of thumb ramp on the native, but the delica has thinner stock so it's slicier, has a tiny bit more edge and a tiny bit less weight. I like both, but I prefer the native. Several people have said they find the delica ...

I'm interested to see what handle materials they come up with. The calys are a great series of designs.
