Re: Leatherman Raptor scissors - overpriced, or worth the price?

I always wanted to try the raptors, but the price has kept me away. I've been using countycomm's trauma shears for about 8 years & they work great. They're pretty affordable & they have three different sizes. (Also GITD) 013, you win the award for creepiest avatar. I nearly struck my laptop's displ...

Please tell us what & how...

It’s a Cold Steel Micro Recon. It completely sucked in the hand. Only good in one position. I fixed it, and changed the blade shape too.

That looks like a wonderful upgrade👍

Re: Black Stonewash

I have a question. Why is this called black stonewash? And what exactly IS stonewash? Stonewash is sometimes ceramic media in a rock tumbler, or smooth pebbles with wd-40 in duct-tape sealed coffee jar wrapped in towels put in a drying machine. I am not a metallurgist, a chemical engineer, or a kni...

Re: Black Stonewash

The above photos seem to be ferric chloride etched, then stonewashed. The only knives I've seen blackwashed have a black coating which is then stonewashed.......

Re: I Don't Get The "Spydie-Flick."

I can neither confirm nor deny Spydieflicking. I just want to point out that the Spydiehole was never intended for that operation. In my opinion, Spydieflicking is better suited to non-critical/non-tactical roles.

Re: stonewash/acidwash

one of my favorite budget knives is d2 with stonewash and i have been fortunate not to have corrosion issues with it. i probably wouldn’t suggest stonewash for a non-stainless steel, but it’s fine on steels like s30v and lc200n, etc. I also have a budget d2 w/stonewash & It's been fine. Tool mainte...

Re: What "Other" is in your pocket???

That is a A LOT of money sitting right there!! Always tempted to pull the trigger on an OTF Microtech...but very difficult to get them shipped to NY. Autos are legal in N.Y. If you are fishing/hunting (woods stuff) or are handicapped (many different kinds). There should be no problem obtaining one ...

I haven't cleaned mine but it is getting more "grippy" with use and oils and dirt fro...

Re: Mantra: Long Term Review and Thoughts

My Mantra II is the only Delica I've owned or handled. I like how the blade disappears into the handle making it very pocket friendly. The M4 is a nicely added bonus. It is also my first wire clip which I feel matches nicely with the handle material. I feel that the Mantra models are the ultimate ev...
