Re: Tip Up vs Tip Down Poll

When Spyderco decided to not put tip-down holes in the Bodacious, even though they are there in the Shaman, they lost a sale. Buy one and learn to use it. My most carried knives are tip down PM2 and tip up Manix 2. I have several knives that can go either way, and some that are tip up only. The onl...

Re: Bodacious Discussion

Is the Bodacious opening hole diameter known? The Shaman's is given as 14.2mm on the wiki, but is it known if it is the same?

Re: Rit Dye More works great on green Salt 2

Seems a little odd since "All-Purpose" RIT dye is for nylon and natural fibers, and Dye More for polyester and some other synthetics. Just going off that, one would assume the all-purpose dye works better on FRN. Maybe Dye More just works faster?

Re: Bodacious Discussion

Is there a reasonable way for a buyer to arrange tip down carry on this knife?

Re: Reveal 14 Live!

I agree that overall it's a great reveal. I just don't need (or want) any more 50-50 choil designs, no matter what wonderful steel or whatever else they have. https://forum.spyderco.com/download/file.php?id=56083&mode=view It's interesting, users' position on choils. I wonder if it is changing,...

Re: Reveal 14 Live!

i'm sorry, but i'm really not sure what there is for anyone to be disappointed about in this reveal. No tip-down carry option on the Bodacious. I may be the only Spyderfan in the world who is disappointed by that, but on what otherwise seems to be a perfect knife design for me, it's a big disappoin...

Re: Reveal 14 Live!

I thought the Bodacious is exactly the knife I have been waiting for years for Spyderco to make (while buying other Spydercos, and not much else, besides a few Benchmades). I was really ready to love this knife. Then I got to the last sentence: tip up only. I was stunned. Well, everyone has to make ...

Re: Military 2 Discussion (Merged)

A black clip that stays black would be nice. I would order several if the correct part to order can be identified (a replacement for the painted black standard clip, that is).

Re: XL knives to look forward to

I’ve been off the coal face a bit when it comes to new models from Spyderco. Are there any XL (~4 inch or larger) models on the horizon? If "on the horizon" means Spyderco has publicly committed to produce, I think the answer is "no". Several possibilities have been discussed. I...

Re: XL knives to look forward to

I lack the temerity to directly ask about the status of a big Lil Temperance. I think it is a great design, and might find its ideal form with a 4" blade. Called the Temerity. There, the hardest part is done. Do we know of any big knife not currently available that Spyderco has committed to pro...

I haven't heard anything about such a thing, but, never say never.
Sal said he would draw up 3.5" and 4" versions, over in the LT3LW thread.

Re: Good sharpener for Magnacut

If all you want to accomplish is keep them sharp then purchase a Spyderco Gauntlet with both CBN & Ceramic rods. Once I got this I never had a need for the sharpmaker again. Just remember a sharpie is your friend, with a sharpie you can get more out of these rods than you might believe. The Spy...

Is wear, except for the blade edge, an issue for pocket knives? My guess and experience is that it isn't. So that leaves feel as the the reason to lubricate at all.

I'm pretty sure there's several knives in the lineup that use the pivot bushing Don't the Paramilitary 2s and Para 3s use it? I thought they did. Re: The tip up/ tip down debate continues

I don't pinch the end sticking up out of my pocket. I place my thumb all the way into my pocket, then draw the knife. If you compare my grip to when I start my draw to my grip when I initiate the opening action, they're one and the same. Drawing knives this way, even larger ones like a Szabo folder...

Re: The tip up/ tip down debate continues

I think lock type is a factor. Benchmade's Axis lock and tip down is not ideal, for example, especially on smaller knives.

One reason I like mid back locks is that they are tip-up / tip-down (and right hand - left hand) agnostic. Perfect.
