Re: Best Blade Length for Self Defense; And What Do You Carry For This Purpose

A few years back I found myself on a long road trip pulling off the freeway into a rest area that was pretty lonely, but REALLY necessary. As I was leaving my car heading to the bathroom, I noticed someone leaving a car that was parked there when I arrived – and he was heading in the same direction ...

Re: The Drunken: Amazing Knife, Ruined by its Pocket Clip.

If you cannot figure a way to maneuver that clip away from that scale, perhaps you shouldn't own such a complex knife as this?

What Spyderco knives have ball-bearing pivots?

I'm thinking the next knife will have the b/bearing pivot. I've tried to find a filter for such details but no luck so far.
Thanks for the help ---

Re: Used my new Shaman for the first time.

To explain why the Shaman was "the tool at hand" - this was official blizzard conditions, white-out/sideways snow. The vehicle was my wife's car ("Would you pleeease get me some gas?"). She's real fussy about not having "clutter" in her car. I have a tool bag tucked awa...

Re: Used my new Shaman for the first time.

The blade that rides with me gets used, silly to carry it and be afraid to use it.
A scratch/chip shows me it was there when needed.

Re: Received my knife today – then took it apart to “fix” it.

The tab edge "sharpness" seems to be hit and miss, they rounded that edge off on the Sliverax and I really don't care for it and find that it makes pressing the tab in significantly more difficult. I even go so far as to put grip tape on mine to give it more traction. I also adjusted the ...

Used my new Shaman for the first time.

Blizzard conditions today – freezing rain yesterday - car is low on fuel. Get to the station, 9 degrees f./ 40 mph winds - pull up to the pump, pull that lever below the seat and the gas door doesn’t open. I can’t pull that lever and pry on the gas door at the same time so out comes the Shaman to we...

Received my knife today – then took it apart to “fix” it.

Received my Shaman today, the design and scale of this knife appears to have been created for me personally. I did find a few details to address - sharp edges all over and the rough release of the compression lock – which made the sharp edge of the c/l tab painful to push. I started with the complet...

Re: Do Spyderco Knives Have No Flaws?

My Autonomy2 had a few issues that are being addressed - customer service has been as good as anyone could ask. These are sophisticated little machines and there are going to be issues beyond what will show up in R&D. The "service" details are what is setting Spyderco above the competi...
