Re: Knifejoy Exclusive...Slysz Bowie??!!

I don't understand why everybody is assuming this is the Slysz Bowie... I don't think you can tell that from the picture. I think the Slysz Bowie is peoples' wishful thinking without much evidence to that fact. Sorry to rain on people's parade. Because Knifejoy said it was in nickshabazz IG post sh...

Re: Quick question: Upcoming K390 Endura family: Sprint runs or regular production?

The plan is for a sprint series. I'd like to do all of the models in the "Endura family". I'd be intrested in what additional blade configs you wight also like? sal I'd also love some upgraded steel wharncliffe blades please (if that is what you mean). Count me in on the dragonfly and del...

Re: Alistair Phillips Custom Kapara Backspacers

The white spacer is pretty tempting, but are they sitting as flush as the factory one? I remember being impressed with how flush the liners, scales, and backspacer were on the original. The red backspacer I got from Alistair awhile back is pretty darn flush like the original. Practically speaking t...

Re: Straight Spine Stretch

What a great knife Sal! I always meant to get around to the stretch, but those sprints and new releases get in the way. This one finally got it in my hands. Always seemed in comments like Sal wished more people would give the stretch a chance in the previously vacant Endela niche, I see why. I like ...

Re: New Kapara compression lock action is great

Just a follow up, since a couple of people mentioned it. Jimping was intentionally omitted as a design choice due to this knife being intended to be useable for food prep, so as to not trap things.

Re: New Kapara compression lock action is great

Seconded on the CQI version (never handled the original). Action is very smooth. Highly impressed. Looks better in person, very nice unique non uniform look to the carbon fiber pattern due to the curvature of the handle. Drop free without blade play out of the box, if that's your thing. The compress...

Re: s30v spyderco's acceptable

My thought is. I'm fine with S30V on a knife. Acceptable, but not exciting. However, when the knife gets into the $150-200+ range I expect (or would prefer) better steel. I'm willing to eat the extra cost which is realistically not that much of a price bump based on sprints. Probably <$30 unless the...

Re: Achieving blade drop without blade play

My first PM2 came with poor action in the drop free. It was nowhere near drop free without backing the pivot screws out until they were sticking out. This introduced a lot of blade play as well. I was very disappointed with the compression lock, a joke. I did notice that there is a small handle scre...

That method doesn't work with certain knives. FRN backspacers can lose their shape from the lock spring, making it impossible to set the second liner on flush.
Was referring to the OPs delica/endura question.

Thanks for the info on other models, good to know.

Re: Back Lock Question Re: Disassembly

I see people saying put the blade in last and fumbling with 3 hands. How I learned it. 1. Assemble half 2. Put in the spring, the blade, and washers and pivot 3. Add other scales/liners and loosely tighten up screws except the one that goes through the lockbar. 4. Tape the blade for safety 5. Place ...

Re: Carabiner clip

Cool idea. I wonder if it would actually work as a universal design. Seems like a lot more force/stress would potentially be placed on the threads, screws, and attachment point. I'd buy one after initial reviews got rid of that concern. For my use, would be nice to dangle any knife of choice on a ba...

Nice, I like the grind.

Prefer the aesthetics of this more obvious angle change to the subtle (but once you see it you always see it) hump of the factory spine.

Re: Help picking my 1st spyderco

Words of warning: All of the knives you mentioned have significantly less than 3" of actual cutting edge due to the finger choil being counted as blade length. If you want 3" of actual cutting edge, swap the native to a manix, swap the Para 3 for a Para 2. Native is a good knife. The FRN i...

Re: Guys who put lanyards on your knives, why?

Generally, don't use them. I think it is for flair as much or more than practical benefit in most cases.

I do have a simple one knot one on a dragonfly for when I put it in the watch pocket of jeans. I actually very much like that one. Carry it regularly that way and it is useful.

Re: Sharpmaker and new knifes

My suggestion, especially if you are new to using this sharpening equipment. Do not sharpen at all at first. Spydercos generally come nicely sharpened. Watch the sharpmaker DVD video on youtube and understand the goal of the 2 degree settings. See the image of the primary bevel (sharpmaker 30 degree...

Re: Very Disappointed

Just a suggestion for part of your issue (even though I know you don't want to deal with this on a new knife): To loosen, you can try heating the pivot a bit with a hair dryer or some hot water to loosen it up, obviously with the latter you will need to blow out the knife with compressed air or flus...

Re: Question on blade length and why folks measure as they do...

Sorry, to resurect posts from the slight dead. Long time lurker first post on the forum, randomly came across this thread. The way OP posed the question, going strictly by the AKTI's definition of how to measure, to be safe, you would measure from tip to handle regardless of choil. I however, strong...
