Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??

I've mostly been riding Konas the past ~6 years, but rode a Sebastapol built steel Mojo w/ Z2 Atom for ~15 years/ 4 drivetrains and 2-3 wheelsets. Its still in the family. Scot Nicol is a riot, too. I’ve got two of those in the garage, a ‘98 with a Marz and 24 speed mostly xtr drivetrain, and a ‘97...

Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??

My Native Salt SE was in my pocket for work today. I used it to break down some boxes.

The Jester has been a fairly constant companion since i got it.

A Jester Salt would be kick@ss. As would be a Hap40 or K390 Jester.

Re: Talk me out of UKPK Salt SE

Michael, if you do make a slip joint, please be sure to share it in the off topic section!? Well, I'm going to go out on a limb and say that there probably aren't too many folks here who are going to talk you out of a new Spydie--especially with a replenished knife fund. I mean, the heart wants what...

The whole blade is coated.

Also they do clean off the lock face. So for a liner lock and comp lock it's bare where the lock bar interacts with it.

I wonder if they might do the final machining of the lock faces after the DLC coating process?

A 52100 Native 5 with smooth charcoal gray or dark blue G10 and minimal billboarding would be awesome.

Re: Sprint re-run

I'd be into Super Blue, V-Toku 2, and Hap40 in particular.

A drop point Stretch 2 in SB and Hap40 would be awesome and-- since those steels were only used on the Stretch 1, works within Spyderco's definition of a sprint run.

Re: Spydiechef Purchased From Amazon

It does look pretty good for authenticity. My only additional observation is that it has blacked out hardware but not clip. I don't think i've seen that combination. I've only seen them with either all gray hardware and clip OR all black hardware and clip. What is the date code on the box? I have t...

Re: Laminated Blade Steel

I really like laminated blades. Many of my Swedish and Norwegian blades are laminated, as well as an old favorite drawknife. As for folders, I only have two- Stretch 1 Hap40 and Stretch 2 V-Toku 2, both of which are awesome. In addition to the many other advantages, I really like how the stainless j...

Mine is a sleeper favorite. Love the linerless smooth G10 with Cruwear. Almost bought a spare. Would consider another CW N5. Patiently waiting for a Magnacut N5.

Re: Spydiechef lock bar rust?

I have two Chefs-- lockbar face is discolored on both. I think it is normal. Indeed titanium can not rust, but pretty sure it can corrode and is prone to galling under certain conditions.

ZDP Stretch 2. They've seemed rare-ish lately and I have not yet owned a Stretch model. As I have a good bit of K390 already I opted for the ZDP and older blade shape.
Nice! I've almost gone for that a few times. I prefer the older drop point shape. My V-Toku Stretch 2 is a favorite of mine.

Re: Is the CBBL dead???

I personally don't understand why among the Spyderco inveted locks the comp.lock gets used so much more than the CBBL. For me the latter has only advantages, except perhaps that choil-less folders are more tricky to design with the CBBL. Like a liner lock, the compression lock allows a “flow-throug...
