Re: Bark River Knives

I have used both and sold the bushcrafter. The ultralight is here to stay. They share the same shape, but are totally different knives in use. The bushcrafter is more of ehh…a bushcraft knife. Works fine, however I have a lot of knives that can fulfill that role even better imo. The ultralight is mo...

Re: Sharpening ZDP-189

Sharpened my DF ZDP-189 today following my own advice. I ran out of patience before the job was done.

Took it to the diamond DMT stones, coarse and fine. Edge is now the way I want it to be. Crispy.

911rsr sharpening your knives is not that difficult however ZDP is a burden to start with.

Re: Sharpening ZDP-189

The brown rods of the sharpmaker will get your ZDP sharp again. As Sal mentioned, watch the video first. ZDP is a very hard steel. However, the abrasives of the brown rods of the sharpmaker will cut the steel. Diamond rods will sharpen faster but increases the chance of a (big) burr. In your situati...

My knife is also off center a tad and that does annoy me, I tried all the tricks to remedy this to no avail....whatever, I will learn to live with it as I intend to use it, not safe queen it. Have you tried the "soft bending" trick? It has saved me a lot of times. I too like centered blad...

Re: Paramilitary 2 gets dull quickly

I sold my all black PM2 S30V here in the Netherlands, but that was more than a year ago. So I don’t think you bought mine. If so, you can rule out the counterfeit option. My experience with cutting cardboard is that the shaving sharpness of the edge deteriorates quickly. What remains is a working ed...

Re: Z-Cut breakage

https://i.imgur.com/AUI7b97.jpg Posted this already a little while ago. Have several Z-cuts and like them a lot. Always reach for one in my kitchen drawer. This one my wife broke (really :D ). Don’t know how she did it. Maybe to much lateral pressure? I can’t imagine how one can break such a knife ...

Re: What "others" are in the mail?

Josh, think twice before you buy a shiro. I bought my first in 2019 and more followed quickly. The build quality and finish is exceptional. The F95 NL with micarta inlay (1 bear) is my favorite. If you like a more hand filling handle the F3 is the one to get. The neon en hation have an outstanding b...

Plenty of fish in the sea... Sometimes you are lucky, sometimes you are not. For those who snagged one. Congrats and enjoy. For those who did not: you saved some money for your next (maybe even better) purchase. What a wonderful hobby this is :D Edit: Rick when you find the Wisdom please share it wi...

Re: Shaman Z-Wear Sprint - General Discussion & Support thread - (not alerts)

Ya I have noticed my shaman has already broken in some and is less scratchy then when I first unboxed it. I feel like whatever was causing the scratching is finally getting worn down. What is strange is that my blade centering seems to be correcting itself over time. Blade centering is easy to fix....

Re: Shaman Z-Wear Sprint - General Discussion & Support thread - (not alerts)

I'm glad to hear several others complaining about action grit/scratchy/screach issues. I'm dissapointed with my z-wear. It just doesn't feel anywhere near as smooth as my stock g10 model. QC should have noticed the poor action if they opened/closed it even a couple times. Unless this falls within t...

Re: Shaman Z-Wear Sprint - General Discussion & Support thread - (not alerts)

Has anyone else noticed a scratching noise when they open and close their shaman? I have a noise that appears to be coming from the compression lock rubbing on the blade when opening and closing. I tried oiling the detent ball but it still makes a scratching noise. I don’t know whether or not it is...

Fingers crossed for you archangel. Hope all goes well in the hospital, and that your shaman arrives well well and safe ASAP! Mine came from GPKnives through fedex. Re: Who is into fixed blades?

Rick, if you want something with decent steel, small and easily concealed with a comfortable sheath i can recommend three bark rivers. Can't promiss they do not break the bank. From left to right: - Mora companion (for size reference only) - BR Mini Aurora 3V - BR Mini Gunny S45VN - BR Ultralite Bus...

Re: SPY27 Manix 2 Lightweight

Just touched up my new Manix 2 SPY27 after cutting some cardboard boxes into little pieces. I am impressed with the ease of sharpening and result!!! It took me less then 2 minutes on the medium rods to raise a burr on two sides (15 dps) and deburr it. Did not reprofile the knife. I usually reprofile...
