Re: Storage Solutions

It’s not as elegant as the wooden tool chest, but Lowes has these plastic organizers by Stack-on with adjustable compartment sizes. They also stack and latch together, so you can just keep adding more of them as your collection grows and they stack neatly. Looking on their site, I can’t find them no...

Re: Seeking advice on a Manix 2

Now, I'm thinking one of the things I liked about carrying the Manix 2 before was how light it was. Yes, it was wide and longer than I need a lot of the time, but since it was so light, it rode along in my back pocket forgotten until needed. I'm wondering if it weighs twice as much (as the G10 model...

I'm late to the party here, but where is Part 1? Perhaps that should be either linked or merged into this thread?

<snip> You can also try pinching the scales with all your fingers besides the index, and push the lock release with your index finger and swing the blade shut.
I will try this method; thanks. (maybe with the edge taped the first couple times :winking-tongue )

Re: Camp knife - recommendations

My camping set-up: 1) For pot-poking, use a stick. They can be found long enough and are disposable. No need to risk messing up a knife. 2) A hatchet for breaking down firewood. Do yourself a favor and do the chopping with a hatchet instead of spending big bucks on an overbuilt fixed blade for this ...

My recommendation:

1) Welcome to the forum!

2) Get a Dragonfly for everyday carry (EDC). You will LOVE it and appreciate it for its everyday usefulness. It could be a back-up to Item 2) below. ;-)

3) Get a little can of pepper spray for possible self defense

Re: Recent purchase

Congrats on the Native Chief, but I must say I don't see much similarity.

The Native Chief has the SpydieHole, which is a lot less fiddly, but which also makes the knife wider in the pocket. The Eagle is slimmer and more elegant overall.

Just a passing resemblence, IMHO.

Thanks all!

Thanks for the quick and helpful replies!

Seems like the right course is to get a G10 one and give up on the trans. blue scales. I have plenty of LW Spydies already anyhow. (Native, Delica, Leaf Jumper, Dragonfly)

Manix 2 LW is already available in Maxamet. That's GAME OVER for me. ;-)

Seeking advice on a Manix 2

History: I had a Manix 2 Lightweight before, in the translucent blue. I liked it, but I found the action a bit "frictiony." Since it was riveted together, I could only make a slight difference, by loosening the blade pivot screw a bit. I would like to add another :bug-red-white Manix 2 LW,...

Re: Which spyderco is in the mail?

I've got a Centofante 3 inbound: https://cdn.brandfolder.io/YLOLU61B/as/unm3x685/C66PBK3_Both.png?height=350 I like its elegant lines. I hope I can figure out how to close it one-handed without guillotining my finger. Maybe the controlled method, where I put my index finger in the blade hole, press ...

Re: Just a pocket knife

Doc Dan, is that a UKPK? Are the opening holes (and one-handed opening) not allowed where you live? I have a UKPK too, but it has the big opening hole and a thumb ramp. It doesn't get in the way and makes it very easy to open, even if I don't use it one-handed. (for example, wearing thick winter glo...

Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??

First post in quite awhile; just got myself logged back in. Today, I'm carrying my new Leaf Jumper in K390. I just got a new Delica two weeks ago, but the Leaf Jumper has a smoother action, somehow. It's accompanied by a Wenger Pocket Tool Chest (backup and for tools) and a Cold Steel Mini Tuff Lite...

Re: More Information On The GAUNTLET Sharpener yet??

Just saw BladeHQs video with Eric @ SHOT. The stones on the Gauntlet have an odd shape: part pointed, part elliptical. One nice thing about the Sharpmaker was the flats of the stones; one could stop short of having the tip slide off, which rounds it a little each time. That won't be possible on this...

Thanks guys.
First knife in general.
Have someone get you a sharpmaker for Christmas and keep that Maxamet sharp! (plenty of pointers to be found here on the forum)
^ This!

You may change your mind and sell some knives you buy, but a Sharpmaker is forever!

Re: Please help a British Bobby find his knife!

I bet a lot of Brits are carrying quietly; small slip joints. We sometimes kid in the US: they took away your guns in the UK, so now its knives, and now they're after knives too. Better to address the root cause of violent crime that to ban the tools of it. Human ingenuity will always come up with a...

Re: Spydie Chef vs Native 5 Salt. Which would you choose and why?

One thing I like to do is carry my Native or other EDC knife while out of the house, then switch to the chef when I get home and will start dinner. This may sound weird, but I've found that the Spydiechef encourages me to cook more, (so I get to put it to use) which in turn has helped my health. I d...

Re: Batoning, SMH...

I don't understand the need to EVER baton with a knife. To me, it's just a durability test for people who want to see how much abuse their knife can take.
