Re: Whither Nishijin?
I would like to voice my opinion that regardless of the model, I think it should be a Japanese steel showcased in this beautiful Japanese handle material. Super Blue, SG2, ZDP-189, HAP40, VG-Max (pretty please Shun?), something from the same place. My model preferences would be either an Endela or a...

Re: TiCN/DLC food safety
As a few others have stated, I'd be more worried about residual bacteria stuck in the coating than the coating itself. TiCN is pretty smooth, but as already stated the DLC is kind of "rough", it holds oils and people have shown time and time again that what appears to be scratches in DLC i...

Re: Reveal 10 Live!
A lot of cool stuff in here, really happy to see the Massad Ayoob and the green handles are cool, but I would be lying if I didn't say I am extremely disappointed that there is no Lil' Native Lightweight. After seeing Eric showing it off at the beginning of the year I thought for sure it was gonna b...

Re: Now that Sal has mentioned that possibility: Chaparral FRN variants? (blade shape, color, steel...) - your proposals
I'd be all over a Cruwear Chaparral, the tough steel would really shine ground so thin. All the better if it came in a nice shade of blue!

Re: Sal, anything you´d like to share on the Golden made BACKLOCK Polestar? (Another "handle forward" knife?)
The Chinese foundries are beginning to make their own versions of steels like VG-10. I guess we'll try some them and see how they stack up to the real deal? sal I think this would be the way to go, it would eliminate the costs of shipping steel to China and it would allow some of China's own steels...

Re: "As close to perfection as possible" folder from Spyderco?
I think the Chaparral is a pretty perfect design for what it is. I can't think of anything that would make the design itself better.

Yes the bladstock is a big difference. But since the blade is so wide the original is still a fenomenale slicer. Here is a quick pic left the manix xl right my og manix user. https://i.imgur.com/X11qW8V.jpg Yeesh, that's huge! Yeah, I can see where it would be disappointing to see that Manix go fro...

Re: Manix
The manix was build as a hard use tank style knife , the original Manix is legendary in that line... ... because there are a trillion more lightweights in the product line but there very very few real strong folders left. Did the original Manix have thicker blade stock? Because the current models h...

Re: Manix
The idea of a mini-Manix has been tossed around on here for a while, I think it'd be a cool little knife! They've done plenty of different steels, but I'd love to see some kind of special handle; maybe contoured, maybe machined aluminum, maybe mother-of-pearl inlays, I could see a lot of really inte...

Re: Broken Z-Cut
I have the same reservations with mine, and I've seen a few pictures of them snapped through the *not-opening* hole. It's a bit of a shame that this is the only expression of this material combo, I hope they make a few more inexpensive BD1N/polypropylene US made kitchen knives, a bread/sandwich knif...

Re: FRN Texturing likes and dislikes
I am a very big fan of the Bi-directional texturing on Spyderco's FRN knives, it's looks amazing and it works so well. I have never handled a knife out of Maniago, however the texturing on a UKPK looks similar and I have handled those. I do think that is a bit more of a "refined" texture, ...

Re: Lil Native Light Weight?
It's gonna be a lockback. It also has contoured reliefs on each side by where the opening hole is like on its larger lightweight sibling, so it'll likely be a bit more comfortable than the G10 version out of the box.

Re: Lil Native Light Weight?
I can't wait for it to come out, I'm also expecting it to be in the next reveal. I'm planning on ordering one from Spyderco as soon as I can. I like the size and build of the Dragonfly, however the ergos just don't work great for me. I see this as being an "American Dragonfly" essentially,...

Re: Reveal 10 Timing, Predictions, Discussion
Changing from pins to screws is not bad, but what it is really time for imo: A Manix 2 LW in full SE. BD1N perfectly fine for me. I'd love a SE Manix, my assumption is if they do it it'll be with the Magnacut since it's closest to the "salt" line, but if they offered it in the BD1N models...

Re: Has any knife made you stop buying knives?
I've said it before and I'll say it again here, the Manix LW makes it hard for me to justify buying other knives. The only other knives I really can even consider now are smaller ones like the Lil' Native or Chaparral that I can carry when I want to be a bit more discrete. I love the lock, it's so l...

Re: Reveal 10 Timing, Predictions, Discussion
I've been watching like a hawk waiting to hear anything about the Reveal 10 because I'll be ordering the Lil' Native LW as soon as it has a SKU number! That's one that I've been waiting years for, I was so excited when I finally saw Erik showing it off at the last show. I'm very much expecting it an...

Re: Steels you won't buy...and why
I wouldn’t say NEVER, but I’m very much not interested in Maxamet. I don’t need anything that wear resistant and I have no interest in living with the trade offs of lacking corrosion resistance, lacking ease of sharpening and lacking toughness. It’s just too specialized for me. S110V is at least ver...

Re: Anyone else concerned?
It takes a lot of R&D time and money to make a new model, it comes out and basically gets shat on and almost immediately discontinued. How many times would you put yourself out there and take a business risk before you stop taking those risks? Sure you can blame Spyderco for whatever flaws you ...
