Re: Spyderco Survival knife?

Falkniven knives are performance knives using premium steels at high (for production knives) hardness with decent grinds. This is to give them better edge holding properties and better cutting performance. That recipe is not the right one for building a sharpened pry bar. Simple carbon steels run a...

Re: Province users' opinions

Many dealers are collectors club members themselves, and sell the CC pieces as inventory. And since all collectors club members have to work through a dealer, they could also have a piece from a private collector who simply asked them to sell it as new rather than forward it to him. Thanks. Not so ...

Re: Province users' opinions

A question: printed on my blade is 066. Is this a early run or...? It's probably a collectors club number. Each member of the collectors club commits to buying every knife, and Spyderco reserves one of each knife for them. Many of the members re-sell the knives they don't want secondhand (often bef...

Re: Province users' opinions

After this I took my province (not factory edge I have sharpened once on worksharp I think about 17 deg per side) and split (batoned) some year old birch fire wood into kindling. Also chopped some fresh sapling that needed clearing out. 15min work not a long session. After the edge had a very small ...

Re: Can't get no respect

Of course it should handle chopping in my opinion.
I was about to buy one and start chopping but now I will wait. Thanks for the post VashHash.
Good thing I got my Province and it chopps (not a heavy hitter though with the thin light blade).

Re: Can't get no respect

Hello.
Is the guard still loose?
Any answer from Spyderco?
I had a guard loose from another maker and sent it back. They welded it.

Re: Province edge angle

Hey Sal, your Taichung maker deserves a TON of respect for the quality of the knives they are producing. There are very few production facilities in the world that can compete with those guys. I’ll say this though...Golden, CO still has them beat when it comes to the edge. Many of the Taichung fold...

Re: Province edge angle

Thanks for the replies! Then I just keep it between 18 and 20. Att Archimedes: as I understand convex is a little bit stronger than v edge and then I can go lower in angle?! In my case I have a work sharp and stones. Both creates convex so convex it is. Regards Kristian Interesting concept. Sharpen...

Re: Province edge angle

Hi Sal Thanks for you experience. What are the disadvantages with partial convex? I hate to throw out 3x naniwa prof stones and 2x naniwa diamond stones and a work sharp and a lot of small stones to get a guided system that gives V edge. (I have a sharpmaker. Like it but limited angles.) Regards Kri...

Province edge angle

Hi First post but not my first knife. :D Got the Province and it is real slicer!! Happy to see that in large knifes from non-custom makers. Very nice scales with very nice pattern. Great fit and finish. Just got it so not used it much. But started to convex it on an ken onion work sharp grinder atta...
