You have inspired me to have a go as well.

What thickness is your kydex sheet ?
Cool! It is 0.06" (1.5mm), and it was about $6 shipped from China on Ebay.

Re: Kydex sheath build for Mule with photo tutorial

Very nice. I had meant to thank you earlier. You have shown me enough to get me wanting to try my hand. Much appreciated. Nice work! Thanks Tom! Glad I inspired. I hope you get on it--just do it! I know you said I should get a Spyderco folder, too, and I really want one. I'm especially interested i...

Kydex sheath build for Mule with photo tutorial

Well as promised in this thread about my PMA11 Mule build http://www.spyderco.com/forumII/viewtopic.php?t=81359 , here is my photo tutorial of my kydex sheath build. First, I applied three layers of packing tape to each side of the blade so that the kydex would be less likely to scratch the blade. h...

I'd be interested in a 6" curved semi-flexible blade. But which steel??

Great job! I have the same mule waiting for my lazy @$$ to make some scales Just do it! Way to go azdon! You done good. Watch out, it can be habit forming. I started making my own micarta and using fancy hardwood. Maybe I will try bolsters some day. Now that's hardcore! Well done mate! Just receive...

Mule Team 26 PMA11 custom handle build with illustrated tutorial

Thought I'd post a little montage and describe how I did this, my first Mule (and first Syderco). I ordered a set of 1/8" olive drab green canvas micarta scales from ebay. My design is for a fairly lightweight hunting/skinning knife. I first traced the knife outline onto one scale. https://euu2ig.dm...

Re: My 1st Spydie: Mule Team 26 PMA11 edge porn (20X loupe, too)

Love my PD#1 mule! Although I did buy the G10 scales and G-clip with it I plan to make up a few different style handles just to get some practice and probably pick up a few mules like your PMA11. I really appreciate Sal and the spyderco team on doing these mules. Wish I would have known about these...

Re: My 1st Spydie: Mule Team 26 PMA11 edge porn (20X loupe, too)

I have a collection of mules that I have made handles for. My advice and best practice is: 2 handle pins is much easier to line up than 3 or more. You can attach the he slabs and sand paper or coping saw won’t hurt it. Have fun. You can do it. Thanks for the advice. I am planning on two pins and tu...

Re: My 1st Spydie: Mule Team 26 PMA11 edge porn (20X loupe, too)

That’s an unusual first spiderco. Love the Mules myself. Going to buy scales or make some of your own? I’m sure that one is going to serve you well. Yeah, I've been eyeing the Mules for years and kept missing out on them. I love the creativity of designing and crafting "my own custom" knife. I've g...

Nice A11/10v is bad to the bone! Look forward to seeing the edge with some use and Sharpening Hey Brown, I've been watching your videos on sharpening. I was this close to buying a Manix 2 LW in maximet like yours in the video. I've been practicing your sharpening technique. Alas, I've wanted a Mule...

My 1st Spydie: Mule Team 26 PMA11 edge porn (20X loupe, too)

I ordered my first Spydie on Wednesday and received it today (Saturday). Can't beat that for service! So I thought I would take a few photos to share. To me the edge seems pretty symmetrical, and it cuts old Harbor Freight catalog pages with ease! https://eutyrg.dm.files.1drv.com/y4mLvoVa6zg8tWlCauy...

Tom,
Those links have some great ideas for scales. I do plan on epoxying and pinning mine. Never done it before, but I'm brave!

Re: Help me choose my first Spydie

Thanks to all for your help. I bought the A11 Mule Team after reading that the Mule Team program will be on hold or cancelled soon. I have been eyeing those for years, but they usually sell out in a day or two. I really wanted a S110V one, but those went VERY fast, and were too expensive on the used...

Re: Help me choose my first Spydie

You could go the Mule route -- especially with the recent (and still available) A11 steel -- identical to 10V. This might really be nice. I am not a hunter though, so I can't share experiences there. With scales from "halpern titanium" you would be in business with a very nice small fixed blade wit...

Not a fixed blade? The Sprig is pretty cool...

Consider s110v military for a folder.
Sprig looks interesting, but I wish it were s110v and a little less bulky/heavy.
Maybe a s110v Manix 2 LW?

Help me choose my first Spydie

Long tire lurker but hopefully a new Spyderco owner soon. I'm looking for an elk (and other animal) skinner/dresser that won't need sharpening midway through. I have 2 old Gerber folders and a fixed blade Remington, all in ATS-34, so you know the time frame of my last knife purchases :) . They've be...
