Checked out the PM2 in the sale. It’s only a few cents cheaper than Amazon’s price.

Re: Question regarding blade steel vs. hardware
Blades and locks have to be carefully considered. Materials and how they interact with each other, heat treat, etc. Other hardware must also be carefully considered in the making of a Salt. We usually use Ti clips. They work well, though more expensive. Barrel bolts are coated brass, screws can var...

Re: Sharpening question
After you clamped the knife were you able to determine (by blackening the bevel with a Sharpie or marker), whether your angle was set so that you removed steel from the entire bevel? If so, did you bring up a burr on the entire opposite side from the side you were working? And then bring up a burr ...

Sharpening question
My father left his Gatco 5 stone sharpening system with me, because I’ve asked him to borrow it so many times. I spent about 20 minutes on my Mini-Grip (154CM) today. Started with the fine stone, because I’ve recently sharpened it. I was shooting for shaving sharp, but I just wasn’t able to get ther...

Question regarding blade steel vs. hardware
So, I have to assume that even if Spyderco produces a knife in something like H1 or LC200N, the rest of the components (i.e. screws, locking mechanism, etc.) are not produced with that same steel type. Would I be correct in my assumption?

Re: The Golden Matrix: PM2 vs Para 3
Very bummed I missed out on the natural G10 stuff from BHQ. I have been eyeing Wilkin's grips for my Mini-Griptilian, but it's hard justifying spending more than I spent for the knife on replacement scales. Love the color though.

Re: Spyderco Calypso Jr. Sprint Run Knife Gray (Aogami Super Blue)
Up for sale at Blade HQ!!! ...and apparently now out of stock at BHQ! :) So, now I know not to trust their email me option at all. Got nothing from them, and I had it in my wishlist. They sold out in about 30 seconds. No email notice in the world would have arrived fast enough. By the time you read...

Re: St. Nick's Exclusive Para 3
Really liked their Delica exclusive, but that price is hard to swallow. Understand it’s an upgraded steel and G10 scales, but ouch!

Re: ‘First’ Spyderco
Thanks for the suggestions! I’ve found that I very rarely, if ever, use the serrated part of my knives. So, I think I’ll stick with something with a plain edge for now. Don't discount serrations until you've actually used a razor sharp Spyder Edge. Very different then a lot of other knives. It’s no...

Re: ‘First’ Spyderco
I’ve been lurking for quite a bit and looking at picking up some Spyderco knives. As an avid salt/brackish water fisherman, I’m eagerly awaiting the release of the Native 5 Salt version and will be picking one up as soon as they’re available. That being said, I’ve gotten an itch that needs to be sc...

Re: ‘First’ Spyderco
The problem I find with sprint runs it that since I can't replace them, I tend to not want to actually use them, but that's just my hang up. As a fellow fisherman, I'd suggest you stay way from any tool steels due to their low corrosion resistance. For a bigger knife, the Pacific Salt SE is great, ...

Re: ‘First’ Spyderco
Welcome! Man, it's a shame you're stuck on the Made in USA thing as the Caribbean sounds like a near perfect match for you. For what it's worth, if it helps at all, I bet the overwhelming majority of machines in the Golden plant that are used to make the knives were made over seas. :) Other than H1...

Re: ‘First’ Spyderco
It depends on your sharpening skills. The S110V Paramilitary 2 is very nice, but is a bear to sharpen. Knifeworks.com has a very nice M4 exclusive. I've got access to a kit for sharpening. Recently used it to touch up all of my pocket and kitchen knives. Did a decent job, but I didn't try to get an...

Re: ‘First’ Spyderco
You might really enjoy the Pacific Salt if you do a lot of fishing and water activities. The Paramilitary 2 is an iconic knife in my opinion. Try and get an available sprint or exclusive you think is cool while they are available. I also have the Knife Works M4 and it is truly a beautiful knife. Yo...
