Flytanium would be the closest thing to the stock shape. RGT too, maybe.

Just FYI; I've asked Sooner State about this and he says he charges more on Amazon because of their fees. If you call/order direct from his website, you can usually get a cheaper price from him.

Re: Thoughts on lil' Lum blue nishijin
I've owned two. Both were very pretty. Hole access is very nice, the scales are slightly slick but it's a sticky-slick you get with resin surfaces.
Unfortunately both had vertical play out of the box, so I did not keep them very long. They're also all using teflon washers rather than bronze.

I somehow managed to refresh the moment BladeHQ came in stock, and suddenly they're out of stock after I submitted an order. Just managed though!
What likely happened is BladeHQ held a few that people submitted orders on and never paid. Today must've been the deadline for those to go back in stock.

Re: Shaman Rex45 Lock Face. Problem or Normal
Horizontal (side to side) play is almost always caused by a loose pivot. Do you mean vertical, as in the direction of the blade closing? 3 of the 5 shamans I've handled have had subtle vertical play, I feel like it's a more consistent problem than people let on. My para 3 and yojimbo, inversely, do ...

Do yourselves a favor; get an ultrafine bench stone for washer polishing.
Obviously do so with care and consideration for your warranty, but -- If you haven't picked up Spyderco's ultrafine bench stone, do so. Every knife I get from Spyderco, I'll polish up the washers on this after disassembly. You don't have to rub them on the stone for very long, and since they're rare...

Re: Bad quality of C192TIPM390 Spyderco PITS M390
I think “bad quality” is inaccurate. Spyderco focuses on function. How does it function? If you want CRK-level fit and finish, be prepared to pay CRK prices. You realize this is only commanding $100 less than a small sebenza, right? And it MSRPs right about under a large. This is CRK pricing, Italy...

Re: Blade HQ Shaman exclusive coming, green micarta and DLC steel? (M4)
Ok, the satin finished M4 green micarta BHQ Shaman flew off the shelves in less than a day (right?). This DLC version is one of the very best looking ever, imo, and yet it remains for sale (5 days). Did BHQ decide to order that many more with DLC than satin? I have an extra BHQ M4 satin if anyone w...

Re: Stropping Question
Steels with a higher vanadium/tungsten/moly/niobium/etc. content (basically anything that isn't chromium carbide) will respond better to diamond pastes by sheer virtue of the hardness of the abrasive medium. Steels like H1, Spy27, and to a lesser extent Cruwear should perform just fine on green comp...

Re: BHQ Shaman M4 Assembly QC issues?
You lost me at "YouTube research". Even if there are 50 videos pointing this out, your sample size is tiny. Keep in mind these knives are assembled by humans. Are you 100% perfect at your job 100% of the time? If it's just an assembly issue that you can and did fix and isn't a manufacturi...

Re: does k390 have any advantages over 10v?
I'm no expert, but my impression was that the relationship between CPM-10V & Bohler's K390 was very similar to the relationships between CPM-20CV/M390/CTS-204P: in other words, they are so metallurgically similar as to be indistinguishable to the end line user. I've used K390 a fair amount in t...

Re: does k390 have any advantages over 10v?
iirc (I think Michael Christy noted this), K390 has a slight toughness advantage over 10v, but they're not terribly dissimilar. They seem to patina differently too.
All anecdotal though, at least from my end.

They do when you use the word 'evolution'. It is an addition to the Military lineup. That is the only objective point you can make here.
