$150 to spend on a new EDC spydie...

#1

Post by ero2 »

Haven't had a good knife in, well, never had a "good" knife to be honest. Seems like a PM2 (like the black/black blade or stonewashed looks) is a decent choice? But seems there are a ton of different ones. If you had 150, and wanted a medium EDC, what route would you go?

Thanks all!

Hmm, what do you intend to use it for with EDC? Based on this, I'd say you have several decent options to consider in this price range. PM2, Military, Gayle Bradley, to name a few. I'd probably also look at the Sage line too. Great all-around EDC blades.

Honestly a little of everything, no one intended use in particular. I know that probably doesn't help but I will probably throw a little of everything at it.

What is medium size in your opinion?

4inch blade or maybe something smaller.
On my radar: 110V Military, Police 4 and some sweet Rex 45 Military action.

Newest Spydies: S90v Ti Military, Pacific Salt and a special Kiwi.

The s110v is only available in the dark blue.

You can get LW in BD-1 in translucent blue or black, but you really want the s110v.

SE Pac Salt and an Endura 4... 2 great knives to cover all your needs and money left over.
Bacon. Sometimes beer, but mostly bacon. I like Spydercos.

Need a good EDC knife and don't have one? Want to spend around $150? How about a 100% rust proof, maintenance free, rock solid, thin, light, do-everything monster: The Pacific Salt x 2 (one plain edge and one spyder edge)= $143 or Pacific Salt Black Blade x 2 = $158

You can't go wrong! :D

PM2 sounds like it fits the bill pretty square on, or a Manix 2. How much of a factor is weight in your EDC choice? The Stretch is also well worth a look, and the Sage series. If you're very concerned about corrosion resistance look to the Salt series.

For what I see as a Medium size edc I like my Sage for a nice all around knife. It does everything I need it to do and carries well.

Wait for the HAP 40 Delica and buy a Sharpmaker to keep it sharp, that should be $150 well spent :p

OP, I would suggest a Paramilitary 2 and a sharpmaker. Just a hair over $150 but you'll be well set with those two tools!

- I am a fan of the satin/digicam in the pm2.
