I disagree on the lock access whilst closing. At least to me, the lock is more difficult to access with my thumb nail than the GB1. The liner is also thinner than the GB1 but seems plenty strong. The GB2 is still a fine knife though.

I have to use my thumb nail on my GB1, am able to use my thumb pad on the GB2, much easier for me...as usual YMMV :)

I didn't realize this was a non-stainless blade. After time, doesn't that effect food taste in a negative way? I've seen knives with the beloved patina (although I never understood the desire) and wondered how it altered the taste of what you're cutting.

Taste transfer is a funny thing. Some people seem to be very sensitive to it and some can't taste it at all. I can taste it easily myself. It only really happens when a knife does not have a patina. I have used my Super Blue on food as well as 1095 and 52100 in my kitchen and it reacts quickly and has a strong taste. It goes away quickly once a patina starts to form. I have not really ever noticed the taste or smell with semi stainless steels like M4, D2 or Cruwear. I have used an M4 Mule in my kitchen a lot. HAP40 is similar to M4 and I cannot detect anything when using it to eat apples.

Got mine in today. When it's open, a fantastic knife! Slim, light, and great blade shape.

If I were to nitpick, the lockbar is not well designed. Of all the liner locks I've had, this is one of the least comfortable. The hole isn't difficult to use without gloves but I don't think you could open it with gloves on. The scales look pretty nice, but I would love full cf with steel liners and put some milled design into it. The jimping isn't bad, but I would prefer something more like on the Sebenza which aren't quite as sharp. The stop pin could be larger and the blade could wrap around it instead of hitting it straight on.

All of that said, for the price, love the knife. Very ergonomic, great steel, slim in pocket. I will likely have this pimped and I'll probably get the perfect knife for under $200. Can't complain about that.

The lockbar itself is uncomfortable?

Sorry, should re-phrase. Disengaging the lock is not comfortable or particularly easy to do.

Did/do you have a GB1 to compare? I have little trouble with mine with clean hands, and what farnorthdan is saying it sounds like it may have improved a bit in accessibility.

You mention thoughts of it "not designed well", but I believe this inaccessibility was an intention of Gayle Bradleys design to limit one criticism of some Walker liner lock designs disengaging under strain in a heavy grip.

I think what makes the 2 easier to open is the jimping on the lockbar is spaced farther apart than on the 1, plus its not as stiff, at least not on the one I got.

Aren't the liners thinner on the 2? (Also resulting in weight loss)

I think you may be right, its definitely not as stiff as the GB1, there's no way I can thumb pad the 1 but the 2 is no problem. That wider jimping gives the meat of your thumb pad something to grab on to where the 1 it just slides across.

People have been asking how is the GB2 to open and close, here is a video I just made rather than doing work in my office...

Very nice! I suspected the GB2 would be easy to middle-finger flick. The partially occluded hole seems similar to the Yo2, and flicking that isn't hard. Good to see that unlocking doesn't look too hard either.

I'm looking forward to video reviews of this knife. Waiting for my preorder, and just seeing it in action is gratifying.

Could anybody with both models please measure the Spyderhole diameters and post up for comparison sake?

GB1 @ 13mm
GB2 @ 12mm
