What does the PE after the mule team HIC mean

Usually P stands for plain edge in the model number.

I think you're talking about the date code.

Does it go year, then month?
A = Year 01 or Month January
B = Year 02 or Month February
C = Year 03 or Month March
D = Year 04 or Month April
E = Year 05 or Month May

L would be December for a month, so I think P stands for 2016 and E stands for May. May of 2016.

*edit* I don't know, I looked at some photos of mule team boxes and I'm a little lost. Do you want to post a photo of what you're talking about?

As Yab said, “PE” means plain edge. The HIC Mules have date codes of AX and BX (January and February 2024) from the boxes I’ve seen on eBay.
