I'm a boomer, no question. Shunsui, I thought you were younger than me, not older.

Just young at heart, or maybe just irrationally exuberant.

I think it's fun to look at but, I don't put any stock in any of it.
Generational bias/superiority has been goin on at least since Plato's time πŸ˜ƒ
All that being said, I'm Gen X, both my parents are Silent Genration - my Grandfather (paternal) was The Lost Generation the rest of my Grandparents were the Greatest Generation
Seems they always forget to add the Lost Generation πŸ˜‰

Gen X here too.

I also don't put much stock in it.

I don't think any generation has the monopoly on stupidity from what I have seen. ;)

True. I also don’t think that any generation has a monopoly on intelligence, either.

It certainly seems like trying to judge the average intelligence of any given generation has never made us much smarter. :rofl

There aren't really any clear demarcation lines between one generation from the next, anyway. Take "Boomers," for example. Early Boomers will generally have much in common with the late Silent Generation. And late Boomers will generally have more in common with early Gen Xers. I'm speaking in terms of the general societal trends they grew up experiencing.

Society changes as time goes on anyway, whether we create artificial labels to categorize people or not.

Lately I've been noticing a lot of videos (and video comments) about how Gen X is the most unique and special generation because of...(name things they've experienced/lived through as kids, their values, etc.).

As someone who is a late-era "Boomer," there is literally zero difference between what many Gen Xers claim was unique about their upbringing, and how I grew up. Which is why I myself (personal choice) do not base my identity on the generational classification I belong to.

IMO, it is the individual that makes the man or woman, not the year they were born in. Even though there are indeed certain people who fit the common stereotypes of their respective generations.

Ted Nugent May Not Be a Swiftie

I didn't know where else to post this video short, and didn't want to start a new thread just to post it. But what he says is TRUE. And IMO, this thread is as apropos as any to post it in.

Jim,

Sounds like he was whining to me. :rofl

People can say what they want about Taylor Swift, she is a Billionaire now, same can't be said for all the others. ;)

I am not a swifty, but I do and can appreciate how much she has accomplished in her life.

And she is laughing all the way to bank. ;)

Jim,

I didn't get the impression that he was whining. And I've never really been a Ted Nugent fan myself. But I 100% agree with him about the majority of the top modern pop music today.

I'm certain that Taylor Swift is a billionaire. I'm also certain that lot of the top rappers are billionaires. Billionaire status nowadays is not as uncommon or as special as it used to be. Financial status does not elevate the quality of the music, though.

Regardless, I'm also pretty certain that Ted Nugent is not hurting for money.

Jim,

I agree that MOST of the current music is garbage and has been for as long time now. ;)

However this was a dig into Taylor Swift because the groups he belongs to are told they have to hate Taylor Swift, that's the current programming anyway. (I pointed that out in case you didn't know)

So the video is not surprising.

The Billionaire singers list is a short one, you can count them on one hand and have fingers left over. ;)

The classification of gen x vs millennial has always been stupid to me. They just arbitrarily chose anyone born late enough to be under 20 when the new millennium came.

Someone born in 1981-1989 would have had such a dramatically different life than someone born in the mid to late 90's.

They would have grown up with cell phones being incredibly rare. Their childhood and teens wouldn't be on social media. They'd have used VHS, cassette tapes, tube TV's, etc. Their first PC would rock a CRT that would display 3 colors if their parents were ballers, and it wouldn't even be connected to dial-up. They would remember when the SNES and Sega Genesis were cutting edge technology.

I don't know how anyone can lump those people in with folks born so late they couldn't remember 9/11.

Maybe the other generations were like that too, but as an 80's kid growing up with an apple 2 with a monochrome display, NES, landlines etc, I always thought it was dumb I'm lumped with people that have no / few memories prior to iphones being introduced, and are currently experiencing nostalgia over the ps3/xbox 360 generation.
May you find peace in this life and the next.

I know that Taylor Swift and Jay Z are billionaires, maybe Jay Lo too. The Afflec and Jay Lo breakup involves unreal sums....$100 million dollar homes, Afflec already bought a $20 million dollar bachelors pad, I think Jay Lo also bought a new home.

I'm not Uncle Ted conservative, but I am on the right somewhere. Some things I am very liberal on. (Going to reveal my Neanderthal side here....) Taylor Swift is cute, a leftist for sure, and packing on the pounds fast. Is she pregnant?
