"Putting" "words" "in" "quotation" "marks"
Re: "Putting" "words" "in" "quotation" "marks"
I haven't been around much the past couple weeks, but after browsing around for a bit, I haven't seen any threads with a lot of quotation marks??

Hmmm... I guess I do use quotation marks quite a bit.
- For one of course when I am actually quoting someone - like when I repeat a question of someone in quotes so that they know what I am precisely replying too.
- But then there is that "not an English Native speaker" - thing (see? I put that in quotes and honestly noticed just after I typed it... )
Sometimes (often...) I am not sure if I know or use the correct term and so paraphrase what I mean.
THEN the quotes mean something like "can´t recall the term right now, but you know what I mean".
Simple example: If I could not remember the term "car" I might say "the thing / machine people use to drive around"

Don’t worry about it Gernot, it’s all a bunch of trivial B.S.

Not to even mention what it does to his underwear...The Mastiff wrote: ↑Thu Mar 28, 2024 9:08 amYou might be surprised what being shot at can do for a mans character. :)PS. I’m not entirely convinced about Joe’s idea of shooting the slightly illiterate.

What I absolutely HATE is seeing people using the finger quotes when talking. It makes me think they are having a seizure or something.
