Frankly, I wish it had a coated blade. This steel and the way it was polished made it really tough to shoot a decent picture (with my skills and amateur equipment)!

looks good to me! and you don't really have to worry about it too much. this knife definitely speaks for itself since many of us have been waiting for this kind of news since we first saw the lc200n native salt.

a lot of people think salts don't need to be coated, but i'd rather have a bright color on the handle and not have a satin blade than the other way around. bright g10 is less attractive to aquatic life than shiny metal.

The Lil’ Native is an established design and this new version with a Wharncliffe blade will undoubtedly appeal to many fans. I liked how the compact Lil’ Native offers such great control of the Wharncliffe blade. It remined me of the original C75 Kiwi design, but with a much more substantial and ergonomic handle and blade. Eric explained that the edges are done by robots, so each knife has a very consistent crisp edge angle.

I used a portable digital scale, with all its inherent inaccuracies, but it turned out I misread the notes. My apologies. It is -or rather is more likely to be- 2.96 oz / 84 g. I’m sure Spyderco will note the ultimately correct weight for this knife. I’m sorry for any confusion. I already corrected it in my post. Still, I cannot emphasize enough how incredibly light this knife is, considering that large blade.

At this 84g weight, it'd still be barely heavier than my Chaparral. That's pretty **** good and I'm sure waiting for the chance to order one.

i had this thought too. that would be seriously compelling, especially with this g10 texturing. i'm also wondering if we'll see a caribbean update with the same texturing.

Well the PM2 Salt is sure a bombshell. Personally glad to see it's a G10 handled one like the Caribbean. Bet we won't see it for a good while, but I like it.

Another positive thing, IMHO, is how the Wharnclife blade doesn't look obnoxious - unlike on many such knives.

It sits pretty naturally between the scales, not riding them too high.

Love the profile of that Lil Native Wharncliffe. Sure wish it had a thinner blade though, say 2.5mm.
