I have to look away when the Kapara is posted. It was one of those beautiful knives that was under consideration, but I didn't purchase, and now it haunts me by showing up in the pocket thread. Curses! Why does it have to be such a good-looking knife!!
Hurry, hurry, prices are going up. Looks like it is getting a 5.6% increase, but most major shops have it at the 2022 price it appears. This one is right up your alley. I will say it is improved with Micarta Scales. Though the carbon fiber is the most beautiful Spyderco makes.
I also agree with Bolster, it may very well be the knife I've debated the most times without pulling the trigger, right from its initial drop and the couple exclusives it's had. That price is really going up though!
It is a beautifully crafted little knife that packs in a bunch of edge. Basically, an Endura with a small footprint if you can believe it. Completely contoured scales that I wish more models would get. It is very thin, so may seem awkward really bearing down with it. I think that is where models like the Shaman and Manix shine where you have a hand filling handle. This is for typical pocket knife cutting stuff, but is extremely capable.

For comparison, here are some old pics along side the Watu.

This makes me really miss my Kapara (RIP to the TSA), and I love those Burgundy scales!

I would have a hard time swapping out the CF scales, but if I jumped on the DLT exclusive that would be a no brainer.

I’m tempted to buy another one from Alister himself and have add the choil and OG backspacer.

I had the same issue for awhile. I kept putting it off for the same reason, but I wasn't carrying it as much as I thought I should for a design I love. May just be my clumsy fingers, but trying to pinch to close on the contoured skinny scales was just not enjoyable. I felt like I had to think about it too much, so I wouldn't drop it again. The Micarta has helped a lot with that. And now they get carried much more. Worthy investment for the joy I get out of it.

Finally upgraded my Para 3 LW with AWT aluminum scales. Amazing feel in the hand and they only added 2 grams of weight to the knife.

It was time for a new edge on the stretch. Never sharpened Hap40 but heard good things. The diamond plays on the work sharp made it a quick and easy job

Took a burr nicely
Image

But it was a little stubborn to remove. I stopped at 600 and went straight to the leather which is usually fine but I had to make a couple of draws through wood to fully deburr. I’m not 100% convinced I got it all even still

I love the looks of the original Yojimbo. I wonder if I'll ever get to handle one in person though, as I've never met anyone in my whole country that owns one.

Last day with a knife for awhile, heading to Florida for vacation and I’m not checking any bags. Maybe I’ll pick up something cheap in Miami.
