Hi Yalel, welcome.
If you are looking for a thin blade with a decent handle you might check out the Endura as well.

Or the Kapara.

Spyderco Amalgam CQI

First off I must say that the Amalgam is a wonderful design by Brian Lai and that it has been beautifully manufactured by Spyderco at the Taichung plant. This isn't a review of the knife, but you'll see that my own quality improvements speak to my thoughts on the knife. First an overview of my chang...

Re: What is this on the new Spydiechef lock bar?

Not to be contrary, but I think there are much simpler and more obvious explanations. For example (again, this is hypothetical, but it makes sense to me): Some part of the cutting/machining process could cause coloration of the titanum. The lockface fit is finished after cutting/shaping, but before...

Re: A linerless Ti Manix 2 (lots of pics)

That is awesome; love projects like this! This looks like a bigger Chaparral, but with a better lock (can't stand back locks)!

Have you thought about sanding down the tabs for the lock so they sit lower?

Re: Hello, why do you guys like Spyderco?

I've never held a Spyderco and thought, "Man, this is a cheap piece of junk."

In other words, every single example I've owned has been of very high quality. I've held very expensive models from other makers that felt like $5 gas station throwaway knives.

Re: Smock Anticipation

From my personal experience of ordering exclusively from the SFO, I think they get 10 of a particular model. At least when I've called and asked, "Do you have _______ in stock?" More often than not, I get the reply, "Yep, we just got 10 in."

Re: Can CATRA Predict Rope Cutting Performance?

Another great study and read, Larrin. In particular, I agree with your thoughts about LC200N. You said, "Steels that did better than expected based on the CATRA prediction include LC200N and CPM-M4. I don’t have a good explanation for the good performance of LC200N, which made about 230 cuts vs its ...

Re: WE or KME for Spyderco FFG Blades

What made you go with KME over WE? Just curious as I was within a hare's breath of purchasing the WE, but went with a KME instead. Part of my reasoning involved limited work bench space and need for quick set up and take down. My decision to go with KME was also influenced by the positive reviews b...

Which Ti frame-locks ? (I've only done Military and K2 and can help there).

Spydiechef
Slysz Bowie
Techno 2
Mcbee

All have floating stop pins.

Please school me on adjusting blade centering/action.

Many of my Spyderco's, the Ti frame locks, in particular, are off-center when I slightly loosen either pivot screw to free up the action. Sometimes I find the sweet spot where the action is just right and one of the screws is ever so slightly backed off from fully tightened, but after a few days tha...

Re: LC200N Model List?

I can't find the Waterway on the Spyderco site at all actually. Weird. Don't read too much into that; their website is very hit or miss. Currently, the Ikuchi shows up as "Coming Soon," but the Smock does not. When I called the SFO to check on Smock availability, I was told that the webpage wouldn'...

LC200N Model List?

I recently purchased a SpydieChef and absolutely fell in love with LC200N steel. I don't need a knife to hold its sharpness through 500 cuts of thick rope or cardboard before I can resharpen it; my cutting tasks are light and few and far between. This LC200N steel takes an amazingly keen mirrored po...

Hey. Since I'm contemplating becoming a Kapara owner... any updates on the drop shuttiness (if that is a word)?
I've not seen an example that was drop-shutty out of the box; the closing action feels more like a Ti frame lock knife.

I am eyeing up the Gauntlet after seeing Eric demo it. He, He, He, looks pretty capable! At first was not impressed but now well What the heck we Know Sal knows about sharpening it has got to be good!

Do you have a link to a video of the demonstration? I have yet to see one.

Re: WE or KME for Spyderco FFG Blades

Ah ok yep apologies I misread that. We do agree more than disagree. You know now that I think about it the KME stones may be produced to closer tolerances in thickness from grit to grit, one thing is for certain I have tested this with the WE Pro2 and 3 and the differences are most certainly presen...
