Re: Does sunscreen or sunblock help?

It´s very usefull. I work in the Medical Imaging field as a Registered Nurse and i see skincancer every day on my PET/CT scan. These where caused by the way we vacationed in the 70´s and 80´s without good protection. All our dermatologist give the advice to wear good sun protection from a reputable ...

Re: EMP Proof Mechanical Only Devices?

Older vehicles without an electronic ignition and carburators should keep on working.
Also you can build a faraday cage to protect equipment during the EMP. A microwave has a build in faraday cage to contain the RF waves so that might keep a laptop and cellphones "safe".

Checked everything again with the wife, car, clothes, under the furniture, in every jacket i have, in every drawer. At one moment she wanted to look in the attic but then we realised i haven´t been on the attic for weeks. Nothing yet.

Lost my Military 2

Lost my Military 2 3 days ago. Found out when i undressed at night. The Military 2 had pushed my other Spydies out of my pocket. I have been feeling sad since then. Because i live in Belgium the knife is pretty expensive and i´m a nurse so money isn´t abbundent. The sadest part is that my knife boug...

Sharpening a double edged blade point

Hello forumites, i would like to sharpen my double edged clinch pick on the sharpmaker. It fell out of the sheath while changing clothes. It fell on it´s tip and a tiny part chipped off. I would like to sharpen it on the sharpmaker but tips aren´t my specialty. It´s also a curved blade with a thick ...

Re: Fixed blade EDC

Would hockey tape over the handle make the grip easier on the Fusion? I have seen the knives of Fred and Michael and i dislike the fact that they don't have a handle. I worked with hockey grip tape on my Eskrima sticks and think this could be a good substitute for a handle.

Re: Why don't you Baton?

The same reason i don't use a Ferrari to plow the field. Tools where designed to do soecific things. Pocket knives are designed to be used as light duty cutting tools. I would use a knife in a life or death situation as a baton tool, but i wouldn't test a knife to see how long it will last doing stu...

Another law in Belgium..."Objects and substances that weren't designed to be used as weapons, which have been transformed, modified or mixed to be used as a weapon and which, given the concrete circumstances, are likely to be used by the person carrying or transporting them to inflict bodily ha...

Re: If laws and public perception were no issue, would you carry a different knife?

Well in Belgium there is no true "legal" way to carry a knife. You need to be able to prove that you had a lawfull reason to carry the knife to the judge. A butcher next to his chopping block has a valid reason to have a knife but if they find the knives in his car is already a problem. Ca...

Re: What did you use your Spyderco for last?

Opened a cardboard box containing a glass vial with radioactive medication to treat bone pain in palliative prostate cancer patients. It's an alpha emitter so you need to be carefull not to stick yourself with the needle or drop the vial. Sturdy packaging.
