Re: Why is the Kapara so overlooked ?
For me it is its compression lock. Not only I prefer other locks or even no lock to a compression lock, but IME Taichung compression locks are simply unusable, ie pressing the tab combined with a wrist action won't close the blade. This was the case with the Sage which after failing to break it in ...

Re: Why is the Kapara so overlooked ?
This thread reminded me that the Kapara is one of my favorite Spyderco collaboration models. It's now in my pocket for the day I don't have an issue with closing it the traditional compression lock way. But for those who do try closing it like a mid-lock. Use your thumb to move the lock bar over and...

Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??
SpyMyto. IMG_5794.jpeg Nice! I was going to buy one but now I'm not so sure. I think I'd rather have the Lionsteel Skinny Integral. I was about to pull the trigger on one of those when I came to my senses. I need to reduce my knife count not add to it I just realized one of my sisters lives in the ...

Re: Sage series collection - What's the next Sage?
For me, the most significant difference between the two is the blade shape. I understand on picture they look very similar, but Sage (at least the one I got) is pretty wide near the tip, while Manix tapers down more aggressively. Maybe this can be quantified in some way (i.e. width to length ratio ...

Re: Should I buy a Sage 5 lw or Paramilitary 2 as my first Spyderco?
They're both fine knives and you really can't go wrong with either. As far as which one to buy, only you can know which one will be better for you. If I had to pick one for general EDC it would be the Sage 5

Re: Sage series collection - What's the next Sage?
I'm still hoping the Sage6 will be a button lock or CBBL, as long as it doesn't require expanding the body of the knife like the Sage3. In the meantime I'll continue to lobby for a Sage2 reboot like the Sage1 got :) Hi Abbazaba, You keep on nagging. I'll keep on watching. If we did another run, we'...

Re: Sage series collection - What's the next Sage?
For the me the "Axis" lock was/is a Benchmade thing. I like it but Since I already have several Benchmade models with it I'm not sure I'm interested in someone else's version. Same if someone else made a compression lock knife. Not interested. Looking forward to seeing what lock the next S...

Re: Is this legit? Amazon Spyderco store
This has come up awhile back. I believe TazKristi chimed in. It's not directly affiliated with Spyderco and I honestly don't remember if they're an official dealer but they've been on Amazon for at least a few years now. If they're not a Spyderco dealer then someone connected to them likely is. Wher...

As much as I like my liner (and frame) locks, I have great appreciation of the compression lock

Re: Native Scout?
Having all these different sizes within a model family is kind of silly but that I don't really see why people get all bent out of shape when people ask for another tweener size. I'd rather see new models come out instead of the same ol' thing but that's just me. If someone wants a 3.5" Native ...

It glides in and out of my pocket easily and it doesn't shred my pockets. The shape of the handle provides a sure grip when in use. I w...

Re: Chaparral
I’d like to see a Chaparral MagnaCut Yellow FRN before the old chap says goodbye. By the way, the Chaparral Stepped Titanium (without blue anodizing) is a stunning piece of functional art. Very time-consuming and expensive 3D CNC machining. https://i.imgur.com/zRE2ZRP.jpeg ^ That's one I do regret ...

Re: Chaparral
It seems like Spyderco has given up on introducing new handle materials which was one of the original missions of the Chaparral line. The last Chaparral with a new handle material was Birdseye Maple which was at dealers in January 2021. Perhaps like the Sage line, we’ll soon end up with just FRN sc...

Re: Jende Spyderco stones for guided sharpeners.
Interesting, they do list a US facility: USA - 1900 E. GIrard Pl. #300 Englewood, CO 80133 Is it possible they are cutting the spyderco 2x8 stones down and reselling them? We also switched gears with our sharpening stones to focus more on the custom cut stone sizes for the growing number of guided ...
