Re: Endura w/armorer tool (Not Lone Wolf?)

I own the Remote Release and the Lone Wolf Endura. I am totally unfamiliar with any Spyderco with any sort of button activated armorer tool. I think the Remote Release is the closest thing I can think of, and I really liked the Snap It substantially better than the Remote Release.

Re: Benchmade Water Series (salt series?)

What is the Spyderco competitor to their Intersect? Small, magnacut fixed blade...definitely interesting to me.

Re: Victorinox going bladeless

I've had a TSA agent physically open and inspect _all_ of the tools on my (blameless) multi-tool before.

Re: Victorinox going bladeless

I have a bladeless multi tool that I use for travel (because it can be carried in the cabin and I rarely check bags). It's a useful piece of gear. My usual habit is to buy a relatively inexpensive knife whenever I get where I'm going, and then just leave the knife behind when I head home.

Re: Wanting Some Good Cargo Work Pants

The heavier Duluth Trading pants (the original firehose material) are very, very tough. I mostly wear the 'dry on the fly flex' variant during warmer weather, because it's a lot lighter.

I'll second Duluth Trading. I've been wearing their cargo pants continuously for years.

Re: Protecting Our Allies

As a Filipino, I appreciate that other people are aware of tensions in Southeast Asia. I can't say more without turning this into a political post, so I will close with that. There are _many_ Filipino-Americans. My mother was born in Manila and moved to the US at a young age (my grandfather was an ...

So you’re basically wanting a DLC version of the Heinnie Haynes exclusives?
The 4v is the draw for me.

Re: A new spin on "HIC dropping soon"

I have been using HIC kitchen knives for more than a year now. They hold a working edge _forever_. That's their main strength. You can't really get them 'scary sharp', and they are relatively fragile (we have broken two of the paring knives now), but they hold a useable edge for a virtually infinite...

Re: How about a PM60 Mule?

I'd love to try a PM60 Mule. I'm tempted by the Kunwu, but not sure I really want to cough up that much for a Chinese knife at this point.

I'm extremely fond of my back lock manix. I have always wished for a Cruwear (or 3v) version.

Re: Survive knives

I have some older Survive knives in 20cv and 3v, and they've been super solid. Apparently they went downhill when they tried to scale up (unsuccessfully). My general impression from reading through things a while back is that I basically wouldn't trust them. They seem to be in the business of blamin...

Re: Which Past Mule Teams Would You Like to See Repeated?

My thinking on this continues to evolve, but at this point I think Damascus is the one I really would like to play with. I've always seen Damascus blades as 'pretty not functional' and I'd be very interested in doing abusive testing on one to see how well it held up.

Re: Good knife friendly, reasonably priced cutting board

Wood boards are actually more sanitary than plastic boards. And 'raw' wood boards are more sanitary than varnished or coated wood. I've always wanted to do a stabilized wood cutting board, because it would look nice, but it would actually be less sanitary, so I haven't done it (yet). https://www.all...

Re: Good knife friendly, reasonably priced cutting board

Making a cutting board is easy if you have some basic carpentry skills, and they make great personal gifts. Example: https://www.woodcraft.com/products/woodcraft-woodshop-exotic-cutting-board-kit-3-4-x-9-3-4-x-16-angelique-hard-maple-wenge There are tons of cool cutting boards on Etsy too. I think t...
