I'd rather have something slightly beefier. But I don't know if I'd rather have the made in USA UKPK titanium over the Sage 2. I can't think of a time when I NEEDED a locking knife as an EDC. I got the Ti UKPK, my first slipit, for an upcoming Tuscany vacation. It's what got me interested in the Sa...

I found out (as in my first PM some years ago) that the productionmonth and -year are lasered in the blade. Mine was made in 05-2011, however my box says ‘FK’, june 2011. As The Deacon regularly reminds us, the box code tells us when a knife was packaged for sale. Do all blades have their productio...

I'm thinking about the Blue Sage 3, the sprint run Manix 2 orange or the Paramilitary Beware the Spyderco series. I first got the Sage3 and now have the others. I got a Manix2 sprint and now have two others. And my Para2 has me pondering a Millie. Slippery slopes, all. Such is the Spyderphile's bur...

I marvel at the Chaparral and have no doubt it can do heavier work than its thin blade would suggest. I've already whittled some hardwoods with it, and it easily handled all the force I wanted to apply. Still, my overall impression is that the knife is light-duty, even dainty (like a scalpel). Stran...

...the grit that is supposedly showing up in some knives, appears to be metal shavings, rather large chunks at that. We agree that grit and metal shavings are not the same thing, or rather they are different degrees of neglect. My procedures aimed to correct only the annoying first. The damaging se...

Grit
Given complaints in this thread, I was worried that the Chaparral I ordered from CS would be similarly vexed. Perhaps the fact that CS got my order to me so quickly (in two days for the fourth straight time) put me in a happy mood. The grit I encountered didn't piss me off. But, primed to look for g...

That's a great price for my current fave. I paid CS $10 more, and was happy to do so.salimoneus wrote:Picked up this knife recently from Amazon when their price dropped to $134.
The Chaparral that CS sent for Saturday's delivery may become my new fave, but the beefier Sage2 will surely stay in my EDC rotation.

My only real concern with the ukpk s that it really seems like a super light work knife. I wouldn't ever want to push it, the caly feels a lot stronger. I mostly use my ukpk as a lender...someone asks to borrow a knife and that is what I hand out. I have both a G10 and Ti UKPK. I share your impress...

I see that the Spyderco Caspian2 Salt ~ FB22BK is out of stock at Spyderco and I don’t see it on any third party sites. I see some pointed tip Caspian Salts out there, but I prefer the blunt tip for diving. Has the Caspian2 been discontinued or will we see some back in stock sometime? Check http://...
