Re: Rip my only PM2

Congrats on getting your knife back. I've lost a couple. A Pac Salt while swimming and a Tasman while gardening.

Re: What percentage of your knives are spyderco?

10% but without a doubt my favorite knife company. Flippers made some heavy inroads to the collection haha. I used to be a real Spyderco fanatic. Still love ‘em but I’ve broadened my horizons.

Re: In Defense of Liners

How does Stretch XL lockup compare to other Spydies?
I love the Manix 2 Lightweight. Also like the Dragonfly 2 wharnie. Never warmed to the Native 5 Lightweight or the Para 3 Lightweight.

Yeah factory knives are usually disappointing in that regard. I've reground a bunch but they certainly don't look as nice as factory.

Re: Who's Buying Murray Carter Spyderco???

I got the super blue Nakiri on sale. The handle is nice. The blade is warped pretty badly. It can be bent easily but the warp at the edge ain't coming out. Overall I'm disappointed. My guess is many of these are warped but most people don't even notice.

Re: Warranty Failures

I agree that warranty is important. We pay for warranty with every Spyderco we buy. It's built into the price and functions somewhat like insurance. If there's an issue, we essentially file a claim. If the warranty experience is bad, it moves Spyderco closer to some Chinese brands and let's be ...

Re: Warranty Failures

I once had a PM2 with up and down play that I eliminated by disassembling and bending in the comp lock. It had too little tension.

Re: Where's the SPY27?

I love the Manix 2 Lightweight. Have one in SPY27 and another in Rex 45. Would love to see the Stretch 2 XL in this steel.

Re: Military 2 Discussion (Merged)

It appears that the Military 2 is even closer in design to the Stretch 2 XL. I think I'd prefer the Stretch XL for the super lightness. I'll just wait for a better steel.

I would bet on the Military 2 being at least as popular as the Para 3, maybe more.
No way. Bigger knives aren't as popular.

Re: Congratulations Spyderco! American Made Knife of the Year!

Stealthy reveal. I like liner locks but the Military model ran its course as do all models. This iteration looks promising! I'd like to see the specs.

GB1 is a lovely knife, but really could loose some weight and get different scale finish - I found the carbon fiber a bit too slippery and not a great combination with that shallow finger choil.
I agree, grippier scales would be better.

Yeah, that's my point. A fillet knife is not ideal for general purpose kitchen duty.

Re: Broken Z-Cut

I love how thin they are, it's why they cut so well. There's an endless supply of thick kitchen knives out there. They're thin, but with a thickish grind Yep, I've complained about this in the past. They could be thicker stock with a thinner grind to add rigidity and give up nothing in cutting ...

Bummer, though I don't think we've had any confirmation these are run especially hard. My impression from use and sharpening is that they're hardened properly.

No single knife could ever replace the others. I enjoy owning a variety. I will say that my purchases have slowed because it's hard to improve upon what I have collectively.

Re: Stretch XL discussion

I'll probably get one in SPY27 or Cruwear. I like the size, how lightweight it is and it's the best looking Stretch IMO.
