Re: Stripped Manix 2 pivot screws

Disassembled the knife and noticed something... I suspect that the deformation you notice is the threads being stretched, perhaps from over tightening. If you don't like it, take a stone to it. It won't take more than a minute to flatten that surface. That's what I was thinking, but wasn't sure if ...

Well, 420HC is drastically different than 420J2. https://i0.wp.com/knifesteelnerds.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/stainless-ratings-table2.jpg?w=561&ssl=1 https://knifesteelnerds.com/2021/10/19/knife-steels-rated-by-a-metallurgist-toughness-edge-retention-and-corrosion-resistance/ Marbles and Bu...

Re: VG XEOS

Hmm that really seems like a pretty negligible amount of vanadium, honestly. I have a feeling that's more of a trace-element situation than an intended addition. What stands out to me is the molybdenum and tungsten, even though the tungsten is in pretty trace quantities too. Seems similar to N690, o...

Stripped Manix 2 pivot screws

I stripped the heads of my pivot screws on my Manix 2. Will Spyderco's warranty department send me replacements? I am also wondering about just sending the knife in since the whole reason I stripped the screws is because I was trying to get the side-to-side blade play out. Only problem is I have dis...

Re: Incorrect Spyderco Sales Tax

You know, now that you mentioned it... The last few Mules I bought, I got charged 10.4% sales tax. I just assumed my state's sales tax went up without me noticing it, but I just looked it up... 10.35% is Seattle's sales tax, whereas my county's tax is only 8.3%, and the state's flat-tax rate (not in...

Re: Anyone have a card with "fraud prevention services" get in the way of buying stuff?

it's just difficult to know which ones do ahead of time, and I'm sure you all know what it's like buying sprints Believe it or not, I'm often not the most patient or tolerant gentleman in the room. At that point I was irritated. I told the lady that I didn't need to call anyone, and that I changed ...

Anyone have a card with "fraud prevention services" get in the way of buying stuff?

I closed out my credit card and so now only have my debit, and my bank has these "fraud prevention services" that basically send me an automated call to confirm a transaction for basically any purchase I make. Usually the purchase gets approved and goes through, but for the first time the ...

Checked everything again with the wife, car, clothes, under the furniture, in every jacket i have, in every drawer. At one moment she wanted to look in the attic but then we realised i haven´t been on the attic for weeks. Nothing yet. Check inside of shoes. Sounds crazy but I had a knife drop into ...

Re: Spyderco 2024 Lists: Delivered & Upcoming

Awww man, waiting with bated breath for the Sage 5 in Rex 121! Same. Wondering what the price on it is gonna be though. I assume 225. Hopefully less, and not too much more Ouch. Yeah, I hope less too. Curious what that estimate is based off of? I know that the Maxamet models go for about that much,...

Re: Fake Manix 2 LWs on Ebay?

How can you tell they're fake? They used the word "tactical." Kidding. Not aware of an S90V version in bright red. Orange, but not red even though they describe it as orange. Blade looks stonewashed. There is a 2nd screw by the pivot screw that should be a pivot if it is pivot constructio...

The irony is you’ve resurrected a thread that’s been dead for three weeks just to say that. :winking-tongue This is the thread that never ends. It just goes on and on my friends. Somebody started replying to it, not knowing what it was, and we just continued to posting to it forever just because...

Re: CBBL vertical blade-play/lock-rock

Well, I tried flipping the cage the other way, and it wouldn't open or close right with it in that configuration. Could kind of wiggle the cage around to get it open, but then looking inside of the knife it looked like the ball was about to fall out, so that definitely doesn't seem like the issue. H...

Re: CBBL vertical blade-play/lock-rock

Did you try slopping some lube in there? There isn't much to go wrong with that lock. Maybe the cage is dragging on the scale before the ball is completely jammed into the gap. Yeah it's pretty well oiled up. The back of the tang the ball travels on, as well as in the cage where the ball rolls, and...

CBBL vertical blade-play/lock-rock

I've got a Manix 2, one of the 15V BBB sprint runs. I noticed that it has some vertical blade-play/lock-rock, and I can't figure out why. I have thoroughly cleaned it out and everything, but it doesn't seem to go away. I noticed that if I press the cage forward, it tightens up, so that's what made m...

Re: Community Sharpening Journal

Is there anyone here smarter than I am who can explain how this could possibly work: https://youtu.be/dTyeLn7kt08 I get how it could work on a knife with axe-like geometry (like the ER he demonstrates it on), but Im not seeing how it could work on a knife meant to function like a knife. Re: A new spin on "HIC dropping soon"

To turn this into sort of a controlled experiment (rather than simply whining), I just knocked one of the other mules (a PMA11) onto the cement floor from the same tabletop six times with effectively no damage -- actually the point did suffer in one drop, but not anything I cannot sharpen out and n...

Hi Clint, Welcome to our forum. I made the decision not to publish Rc decades ago, simply to avoid argument. There are many people that have their own opinion on Rc or limited understanding about how the hardness fits into the cutting edge puzzle. I believe much of that has been mentioned here. It'...
