Re: Could we see a Rex-121 mule?

The mule I've put the most mileage on is the Rex 76, which has absolutely bonkers edge retention compared to anything else I've tried so far. Wouldn't mind trying another Rex family tool steel.

Curious as to what the pricing of this Mule is going to look like, but I'm most likely in for a taste.
It's already on the Mule page listed as $75. Could be a placeholder? XEOS

15V was released in the Manix platform before the MT, so not necessarily.
ah, good point. I'd forgot, and I even have that mule. Derp.

Re: What's your interest in the VG XEOS mule?

I'm getting the XEOS because its name sounds like a niche video game console from the 90s. 🤣 But seriously, I think it depends on how much of a boost to corrosion resistance we are talking about. I don't have experience with VG-10 (its popularity is before I started collecting/tinkering with knives)...

Re: Could we see a Rex-121 mule?

The latest Reveal has several Rex-121 knives in it. Is it accurate that there wasn't a Rex 121 mule? Now that the knives are going to be made, does that mean we won't see this as a Mule in the future?

Re: SPY27 and Rosewood

Very nice handles! I had a question about working with rosewood. I read that it's an irritant on the skin/eyes, etc. any experience with that? Any precautions/advice?

Here is my setup with the bar in vertical position for the contact wheel. This is before I did the horizontal mount for the platten.
CasperFantone, what kind of scales are those on the Mule? They look fancy!

Re: You got your Ceramic Mule. How you gonna sharpen it?

I was ready to give up on it until I started cutting up some cardboard with it. It performs at a much higher level than the edge would have me believe. I do think that this material might do best with a coarse edge. Need to play with it some more. This is an interesting observation, because I exper...

Re: You got your Ceramic Mule. How you gonna sharpen it?

I have some relatively inexpensive gritomatic diamond stones (240/600/1200) I've used with a worksharp using the gritomatic upgrades. I've had good success getting very hard steels (e.g. Rex 76) back to screaming sharp. I've had *very little success* getting kyocera ceramic knives back to sharp usin...

Re: MT40P – HIC Mule Team Dropping Soon!

Anyone that picked up in store from SFO be willing to post up some pics? Would love to see a closeup of the edge. Thanks in advance! I have made up several dozen mules for friends and to donate to local charities, so I bought a few of these at SFO on release day. I ended up returning them due to no...

Re: MT40P – HIC Mule Team Dropping Soon!

Got mine suited up with Halpern scales and the HIC Kydex sheath. I've previously avoided getting kydex sheaths because I'd already bought some blank sheets, as well as thermofoam and supplies to *make* my own kydex, but I didn't want to mess around with the HIC unprotected. The edge is indeed less s...

Re: MT40P – HIC Mule Team Dropping Soon!

Are these as hard to sharpen as a ceramic kitchen knife? Because I've had *no* success trying to sharpen those with diamond stones. I've managed to remove material and reprofile it a bit, but I don't think I'm managing to form an apex on it.

Re: MT36P K294 MICROCLEAN Mule performance thread

I also want to see those handles! I do similar carving with my mules, although I'm just carving handle scales from blocks of hardwood. I've noticed that Rex76 is an edge retention beast at this, even with hard woods. Nothing else can really go for very long before the work is much slower going, and ...

Re: “Best” steels video with Larrin

I think if cosmetic concerns are important, one should never, ever, ever buy a factory second. Just slap an edge on it and use it up.imho Yes, I usually grab seconds to either try something I'm not sure I'll like, or for users. For example, I'm a lefty, but I've never had a left-handed knife, so I ...

Re: “Best” steels video with Larrin

Triple B! Perhaps you know the answer - do you know why some of the 15V knives from seconds sale have little dots on them? Speckled, like a dusting of pepper.
