Disassembly is a right pain, but it won’t need to be done all that often.
LOL

I just had a flashback to putting micarta on my P4 lw. I’d probably be sitting there fiddling with it still if it weren’t for zip ties and a decent torx set.

Re: Stretch 2 xl In K390 At Last!

I'd like to think the announcement of 2 new variations (PD1 and K390) means the Stretch2XL is selling well and is here to stay. It's an amazing design. They definitely have faith in the design. The fact that we’ve seen it stock, h2, cruwear, nishijin and now k390 and pd1 lightweights…that’s GOTTA m...

Re: Sage 5 in REX 121 + burnt orange

This was the reveal I was looking for this go around…the fact that they added some spy27 sages is the cherry on top. I love how much attention the sage 5 has been getting recently as it’s my favorite 3” Spyderco by a long shot. Still waiting on cruwear, though…that’s gonna be a whole ‘nother ballgame…

Re: Titanium Tenacious

I have no problem with 8cr on the new tennys 8cr has every ounce the edge retention of 52100 and it’s far more stainless (to whom it may concern). 8cr gets a bad rap because edge retention is such a hot topic in recent years…but the fact is its user friendly, incredibly easy to maintain, cheap and a...

Stretch 2 xl In K390 At Last!

I’ve been waiting for the day this was announced. I have every variant of the stretch 2 xl (including nishijin) and the lightweight is a marvel of knife design. In K390, it has the potential to be a top 5 all time carry for me personally. I knew this day would eventually come but I’m still celebrati...

Re: Lil Native slicing

For what it is, it works nicely. If you’re looking for a dedicated slicer or you’re gonna be working a lot of cardboard, etc. I’d opt for something a little thinner. The deal with the lil native is that it’s a hefty little 2.5 incher. I consider it my “city shaman”.

Re: I love this knife, but wish for Nishijin or kirinite

I really hope that nishijin isn’t truly gone forever. I managed to snag one of the stretches during the last run and MAN, is it ever nice. I don’t have many “safe queens” but that’s one. It’s too nice to carry…for me at least…

Re: Shaman thoughts

After a long Journey of trying tons of knives, I eventually ended with the Shaman for my grail knife. It is imo the best folding knife ever produced. The ergonomics are outstanding, the whole knife is very refined, it is ment to be a serious user. Also, it is a beautiful knife. Not too heavy but ve...

We need a Magnacut Shaman first :beaming-face
A K390 version would not hurt my feelings either. Just need nice scale for it.
Denim micarta has been my wish for the last couple of years. Would also be a nod to the blue of the seki k390 models

Re: Your favorite color combination?

I love the British racing green of the zdp sekis and st nicks is the only DLC combo that appeals to me… but any color micarta on a plain blade is what REALLY does it for me…with special honors going to the m4 shaman. The slight green tint to that micarta is my favorite thing that’s come straight fro...

Dear Manifestgtr: Qualification for the OpFocus program comes down to the categories of public servants we approve and ID.me's ability to access the databases necessary to verify the status of the people in those categories. The best way to find out is to try. Stay safe, Mike Thanks Mike…turns out ...

OpFocus Question

My brother and I were talking about our knives on the way up to the mountains to fish… It never occurred to me that he MIGHT be qualified for the OpFocus program. He’s a tissue recovery specialist with the New England organ bank (he’s the guy who shows up if you have an “organ donor” icon in your li...

Re: Gayle Bradley 2 CQI?

The detent on mine is perfect. The only issue I have is a bit of lock stick which will hopefully work its way out. Lock stick on a GB2 isn’t great because it kind of piles on the difficulty of disengaging the lock. The GB2 is a bit like the chaparral in the sense that it’s a phenomenal work/carry kn...

Re: 52100 Native Chief?

Asking as one who never experienced 52100, why is it your preferred steel next to steels like Magnacut and Cruwear? Cruwear and magnacut top 52100 for me, as do k390, 4v and 15v. But I really like bearing steels like 52100 for some reason…each one I’ve encountered has been great to sharpen/maintain...

Re: Anyone Else Up For a Resilience in CPM-M4?

That would be amazing…the resilience is my favorite model among the Chinese liner locks and M4 is one of my favorite tool steels. The resilience is highly under-appreciated (probably because of its size). It has this bullet proof, “beat me up” kind of attitude…and that click when you open it, holy m...

Re: Chief vs Stretch XL for fishing knife?

Either would be great. It’s all about how much tip you want, really…

The native chief has a super-pronounced tip…good for piercing if you do a lot of that as part of bait prep. The salt stretch kind of speaks for itself. It’s one of the greatest 4” knives ever conceived but in salt form.
