Re: Salt Dreams
As an extension of that idea, a Salty Jumper with the same sheepfoot blade as the Caribbean would be quite a knife

Re: Weird info by a dealer concerning the CATCHERMAN: "[On the batch we have the]"blade chips on tubing"".. ? Any inputs
It’s hard to know what they mean when writing this, so I’ll refrain from guessing. I’m very surprised they have another batch on the way though. While I have arrangements in place to acquire one, it would be really awesome if a few more of these trickled out to European dealers before all stock is ...

Re: Catcherman LC200N Sprint Run
You and me both! Particularly because they are such good value compared to other LC200N Spyderco knives. A quick scan brings up the Salt2 in LC200N for £134 to £150, whereas the much larger Catcherman was 'only' £115.ChrisinHove wrote: ↑Sat May 11, 2024 5:21 pmI’m astonished they stayed in stock as long as they did, tbh.

Re: Catcherman LC200N Sprint Run
Anyway back on topic, I have a feeling this will work v well indeed for it's intended purpose. Great that Sal and co chose to re-release it for this sprint 😎 Gave the knife a good work out gutting and filleting some mackerel this morning. I do still marginally prefer my fixed blade fillet knife (Mo...

Re: Catcherman LC200N Sprint Run
Mine arrived today. Fit and finish are immaculate and it mostly feels great in the hand. The exception is, as others have said, is the point right in the middle of the handle. As an aside, that's the same thing that means I can't get on with the Endura. I get that it's an old model which means old m...

Re: Catcherman LC200N Sprint Run
A little less than that at Edgar Bros, the UK importer, and in stock. As an aside, this is by far the best folder I’ve ever used for food prep. Many thanks for the heads-up, thought I'd missed these! Very much looking forward to trying it out on the first bass of the season :crossed-fingers Particu...

Re: Chief vs Stretch XL for fishing knife?
I think there is a place for H1/H2 in PE and a reason why folks might choose it over LC200N (and Magnacut): - It actually "only" falls behind in edge retention (and perhaps even not that much compared to LC?), but seems to be better both in toughness and corrosion resistance (for those wh...

Fingers crossed, cos I'd happily take a plain-edge LC200N Stretch XL!VooDooChild wrote: ↑Thu Apr 25, 2024 2:02 pmLc200n wasnt available on Seki knives at first. So maybe the same will happen with magnacut.

Re: Chief vs Stretch XL for fishing knife?
I'd second what a few others have said re wanting to see MagnaCut in Seki salts. I cannot see the point of PE H2 when there are two corrosion resistant and much better edge-holding steels available, at least one of which is already available for use by Seki. I don't really understand the delay given...

Re: Building a Custom Knife for Sal: CPM S60V
This is a great thread - thank you! Like so many topics, knife-making seems to be a bit like an onion. You peel one layer off only to find many, many more underneath. Great to read about some of the deeper layers and realise just how little I know

Re: Enuff 2 SALT?
Really appreciate the additional info thanks Sal. I obviously hadn't factored in the need for an extra set of moulds for the sheath which must increase the cost by a decent amount, especially when they can't be re-used across multiple models. I know from my own experience running a business that pri...

Re: Calypso Jr Sprint Run Considerations
I'd really like to give this model another go but the QC would have to be a massive step up from the grey VG10 I purchased maybe 15+ years ago. The scales splayed out either side of the blade and there was an epic amount of blade play. It was literally the worst Spyderco I've ever seen. Such a shame...

Re: Enuff 2 SALT?
It's expensive for a simple fixed blade, so we'll have to see where it goes. sal I really like the look of the salt variant Enuff but it seems surprisingly expensive (especially compared to the folding salts that are more complex to manufacture). I wondered if you could shed some light on why that'...

Re: Vote: Kick? Choil? Forward? Other?
Granted, "kick" still is the least favorite in the poll so far compared to "choil" and "forward". I am pleasantly surprised though how many votes "kick" still gets - normally it seems like the voices who find the kick just "a waste of space" and &qu...

Thanks for the recs, everyone. I just bought the Stretch 2XL Lightweight Salt. After looking at the Native and others, I wanted more blade length. I’m thinking the Sttetch will be my dedicated fishing knife. Can’t wait to get it. Did you go for plain edge or serrated? I'm patiently(?) waiting for t...

Re: Sneaky Sneaky Shot Show Reveals
Well, in the "non corrosion arena" one could also see it the other way round and feel like it is a "missed opportunity" that ONLY the Sekie models come in H1/H2 and that only SOME Golden Salt models come in LC200N.. Though I am sure Magnacut is great stuff, it is not clear to me...

Re: Sharpmaker Elite Edition
I just find the Sharpmaker to be extremely limited. It's great as a "SharpKeeper" as it's been thrown around in the past. Certainly not something I'd want to use to put a new edge on though. Touch ups, yes...but even so you better hope your edge matches up to one of those 2 settings. I th...
